Why isn’t he being talked about more? I for one think he would be a great hire! Between him kiffin tee and miles idk if there is any other choice that will help.

West is tough he would def do better in east and it’s not like he was terrible

But I still think losing two 5* quarterbacks within a week of each other is a horrible stain on his resume

That **** just don’t happen without a huge frick up on his part

I take it you have not seen the news in the past 24 hours? Being picky is an option long gone.

Kinda my thinking too... not like he made my first too 3 list. But at this point why wouldn’t he be. Yes he did get fired from tam but he has shown success in the West which is way harder... I just think he is at least top two fornwhat we have left

Just the facts:

- Younger coach, 53 years old

- Incredible mind for offense
— Assistant coach for Drew Brees at Purdue leading to passing records and to the 2001 Rose Bowl
— Assistant coach for Oklahoma who averaged 44 points per game in 2009
— Head coach at Houston with an explosive offense that lead to a 12-1 record in 2011
— Head coach at Texas A&M in 2012 when they became the first SEC team to have over 7000 yards of offense in a season

- Proven recruiter with experience coaching across the nation
— Assistant coach at Washington State, Wyoming, Minnesota, Perdue, and Oklahoma
— Head coach at Houston and Texas A&M

- Total record of 86-43 as head coach
— Learned under Joe Tiller, R. C. Slocum, and Bob Stoops
— Was head coach the following coaches: Dana Holgorsen, Kliff Kindsbury, Brian Polian, and David Beaty

- He has no known personality concerns and is known as a high character guy

- He can handle difficult to manage players (see Johnny Manziel)

UT, GO HIRE HIM NOW!

Sumlin would have success playing in the east and has proven he can beat Bama on occasion. UT could do a lot worse. At least he has proven he can win games in the SEC unlike Jones.

Would be Glad to have, but if I was him, would get a big12 position and live a happy, relatively stress free life! Just me.

The stress at A&M appears to have aged him not in a good way?!? :ermm:

If Sumlin will come here then Currie would be foolish not to go all out in hiring him.

Bringing in a coach that was just fired doesn't sound great but this is an exception at least in my opinion.

With far better recruiting territory and vast resources at A & M he couldn't cut the mustard. Retread, retread!! The best quarterback in a long time carried him. Don't want retreads!!

Third and Chavis???? We saw that idiot give away game after game. Have you forgotten we had to revolt to get rid of that loser???? Shut the program down before letting him give it all away. Remember how no lead was large enough for him to give away?? No! No! No!!!!!

If Chief is coming with Sumlin then i don't want him. Chief is a great man but the 3rd and long thing... just no.

I'd be good with Sumlin. Still think we oughtta hire The Pirate...

Both are much more palatable today than they were in the wee hours of Sunday morning. haha

Sumlin would be a better "fit" but Leach would be much much more fun.

Both would likely win some but I think Sumlin would likely win more and be more likely to take us to championship status.

What’s his record against Dan Mullen since that is who will be leading our hated rival in the east

I’m down with Sumlin.

Don’t get the Kiffin talk other than him having a good offense. He’s the one responsible for majority of our issues today.

I would surmise that Mike the bean counter Hamilton and Dave Hart were bigger problems than Kiffen. Kiffen left for his Dream Job, was he immature in how he handled he, sure, he even admitted as much. It was damn Orgeron calling the kids. If you could tone done his tweets and keep him on a relatively short lease I think he would do very well. Anybody that could turn John Crompton into an All SEC caliber QB gets my vote.

Can make the exact same arguments for Sumlin that you would for Mullen.

I'd see this as a vast improvement over Schiano.

He just needs to tell Chavis to pound sand though.

I cannot believe he is not being talked about more. He would be the first guy I would’ve called after the Schiano debacle. I really would be happy with Coach Sumlin.
