Everyone else is tossing names out, I am entitled to do the same in a thread about Kevin Steele.
Not particularly enamored with bringing Steele or Tee back nor Cutcliffe.
Tee hasn't been in my top 15 since Jones was fired. Too soon to make the jump as a head coach.
And Cutcliffe backed off the job once already when they tried to dictate his staff to him . No way he goes for the scenario you spelled out with Tee as his OC/HC in waiting.
I'm not telling you what you can or can't suggest. I'm just presenting the argument that seemingly would refute your opinion, which as you said, I'm entitled to do.
As for your last paragraph, I'm not saying it has to be Cutcliffe, but someone who isn't looking to keep the job for the next 10 years. Tee coming as OC only, with no other title or guarantees, is a step back. It's a nice thought, but not very realistic.
I mean...if we are going after a DC, can we at least go after Venables first?
Head coaching record
Year Team Overall Conference Standing Bowl/playoffs

Umm... I take it he got better?
Another rumor that Kevin Steele is a backup plan. Report: Tennessee Volunteers showing interest in Auburn Tigers defensive coordinator Kevin Steele
For clarity, I'm not saying I support this, just sharing news.
