We all know it's a two man race and not four. And it's very likely neither have exerted themselves over the other. I'd say it's very even and in the next two weeks the staff will make a decision on the starter.

I read it wrong, it was those that witnessed the 100 play scrimmage said he did well. So why doubt them? Where you there to say different or are you calling this writer a liar

HOWEVER... just like last year, we don't know what portion of the O they're letting each guy run. We don't know if they were working on specific things with JG that caused him not to look as good. In these situations, there are always possibilities beyond knowing through casual observation.

Agree. “Multiple” doesn’t equal 4, not sure came up with that number. And for a QB who “shined”, there wasn’t a whole said about him in the article. And quite honestly, if JG can’t beat this guy out, then he needs to go and we gotta hope and pray Shrout progresses at warp speed for 2019 or that Maurer is a freshman phenom.

Chryst did NOT throw 4 TDs in the scrimmage. Brice said he threw one to Jordan Murphy and one to Brandon Johnson

JG has battered Vol syndrome like most of us fans and is unintentionally not confident with his surroundings. Most need to remember he is still working through stuff in his head whereas Chryst has a clean slate so to speak.

No benefit of the doubt necessary. Both had their issues. But Dormady had a better command of the O. That's how he won the job. If JG had been equal in that regard, he would have been the starter in August.

I can't make you see things you refuse to see. This isn't personal hate toward JG... he just wasn't advanced last year in managing the O. He didn't lead the teams to wins. In the UK game his "best" completion of the day was a 48 yard Hail Mary thrown to UK's 7 yard line as time expired. I know you would rather throw up a false argument than actually discuss the facts but no one said it is "all" on the QB... but "stats" that aren't effective in producing wins... are pretty useless.

For the most part the OL held its own against UK. The ground game had its highest total of the year. The D didn't outright stink and got 4 or 5 take aways. There were very few dropped passes. If you want to convince yourself that JG was great and everyone else sucked then so be it. But if your 30 years of watching football didn't teach you that the QB's decisions are a big part of offensive production... then I guess you can just get mad again.

I actually said this before the season but am not as sure now. I don't think he was brought in just to provide "competition" to JG. I think the new staff had/has genuine doubts about JG.
But, I would rather it be JG due to him having more than one year of eligibility remaining. I think KC starts, JG transfers, and we have Shrout or Maurer at the helm next season.

We all saw JG act like a baby on the sidelines already. If he gets benched for a one year wonder, he is gone!

If JG doesn't become the starting QB this season it's a very sure thing in my opinion that he wont be in Knoxville in 2019. I don't think he would want to stay around unless he were promised the starting QB job in 2019.

If I were in his shoes, I'd just want to get a restart somewhere else.

I can't remember. Can he play next fall if he transfers before the first game?

It's alright. We've got another practice report tomorrow and I hear Pruitt is gonna let the Media in for a whole 4 minutes.
