They do background investigations if requested to do so for judicial appointments. This is really not an issue at this point.
The only way another background check by the FBI would result in any further enlightenment into this situation is if individuals who have already given sworn statements tell the FBI something different than what was in those statements. Obviously, this possibility exists. But should these individuals repeat their sworn statements to the FBI, what exactly would have been accomplished?
You're taking these back and forths on here way too seriously. But to answer your question, based on sh!t that gets posted here daily and sh!t that takes place in Washington on a daily basis, there are plenty of stupid people that, in theory, I could see being that stupid.
