Josh is not the guy

Who you rather have Venables or Heupel I rather have Josh.. I think the ceiling is higher with Josh, we aren’t that good this year unfortunately and I think most have higher expectations which is legit but with Nico putting us behind we grabbed a decent QB and it is what it is.. I know it’s disappointing but what was the record after Nico left.. we have hit the mark on where Tennessee should be right now..
I would rather have Heupel, but that is not a very high bar. We beat ourselves more than anything.

Only 3 active HCs have won a championship. Heupel needs to sharpen up the details and have his team better disciplined, but to beat his team it takes multiple unfortunate circumstances to happen. Otherwise he gives his teams an edge to outperform their talent.
This is the most solid take I’ve seen all day.

Did we get a coaching guarantee with JH? Oh that’s right there are no guarantees. You want better and try to find it or you don’t. It’s kind of like being miserable with your gf but keeping her because you haven’t found her replacement yet.
That is an awful comparison. If you’re unhappy with someone you’re with you become single to work on yourself.

You’re implying me should stay single and just not have a coach?

Time to bring Lane home. He’s been wandering in the wilderness long enough. We were mad when he left because we knew what we lost.
While I Kiffin loves it at Ole Miss, I think he would be more likely to take Tennessee job than LSU or Florida. I don’t think Kiffon moves this year but in another year or 2 who knows. I think part of him would love to return. I was mad then but he was young and he even told Hamilton that USC was the one job he always loved but Hamilton didn’t make his buyout nearly high enough. That was on Hamilton.

You lost all credibility at Peyton Manning. Please remind us of Peyton’s record as a head coach. Or the record of any star quarterback’s head record.

Go sleep this one off.
I mean you never know I think he has the mind to be an head coach and he will definitly bring in the recruits. Huge risk for sure, but I bet a lot of people on here will ride with it and see what happens. I won't be mad at Danny if it fails, at least he gave him a chance to see what he can do.

Say I'm overreacting all you want. He does not get our players ready to play in the critical games. He is not a horrible coach, but he will not win a Championship at UT. If you're okay with that fine, I'm personally not. Flame me all you want for this take, I've seen enough. Kirby is out here and his players win games that they play like trash in, ours play well and dominate and still lose, and lose because of stupid mistakes, dropped passes, bad playing calling on both D and O, and poor overall preparation and coaching.

Well... Bye

Okay for real though if Danny fires Heupel, this would be my tip five:

(Lane Kiffin, Curt Cignetti, Mike Tomlin, Chip Kelly, and Marcus Freeman)

Is it? So on 4th and 1 instead of running the Hurry up that has a chance of catching them off gaurd and also what has been dominant for us for years.... you choose to run yet another play action out of the same formation that we threw the pick six on... not exact formation but really close. And you choose to throw it to a freshman that has 2 catches on the season? So the dumb is on us "posters" in a forum?
F
I do not understand throwing it to our 3rd string tight end on the biggest play of the game. That makes absolutely no sense.
Imagine getting your number called there and you seemingly forget to turn the **** around and the ball hits you between the eyes 💀💀
You're sitting there with 3 burners at WR. Put one of them in the backfield and motion them to run that play.

I am certainly not in favor of firing JH. That would be a huge mistake. However, the criticism is valid and the product is not what it should/could be. With more time and better players/deeper bench he’ll be a great coach for a long time. I do agree this staff and the players are not on par with the top tier of the SEC. Things are looking up and I think this staff will get there.

I picked this team as 6-6 when Nico left. Joey certainly changes things, but not enough. Key Injuries have really hurt them (depth is still a significant issue) and the coaches are still learning on the job (which really hurts). Unless something changes (players get healthy, big changes in play calling) they go 7-5 losing to UF and Vandy. Slightly better than what I thought when Nico left. Sorry fellas. Maybe next year will be better.

Go back to sleep and let the alcohol wear off.

I love Josh. I wouldn't trade him for anyone. This team has had multiple unfortunate incidents that kept us from being undefeated, including crucial injuries and last minute transfers. I agree the penalties need to be cleaned up but that's not what happened last night. The future is glowing.

I really want a realistic list of who people want. I don’t think anyone actually has anyone realistic. At all
Let me translate your post for everyone—— we should just settle in this sea of mediocrity because we don’t have a “home run hire” beating down our door.

Newsflash- we will never have a “home run hire” beating down our door.

You better expand that list by about 15 names at this rate. There is 0 chance on any of those guys
