Jordan gainey 5th yr??

I based my comment on the idea that I wouldn’t think Gainey would do a video for tease purposes. I assumed from that video that he’s got some idea of how this is playing out, but who really knows for sure.
i think he truly believes it but the truth is the chance of it getting passed AND it applying to last years seniors is very slim. I think it will pass but will only apply to 2026 seniors

I
I think both sides are feeling more optimistic about the chances
If the Athletic Department and boosters are trying to load up the roster to give CRB the strongest chance of taking us to a F4, then it makes no sense to me to not attempt to bring back ZZZ and Mashack also if the 5 year rule passes. JMO

The Zeigler possibility isn’t zero, Gainey is just the most likely and also the best fit into the current roster. I don’t see Mashack or Igor having much of any interest in returning and also don’t really see the fit for either.

Totally agree. They are at 12 players and can bring them all back. They have several young players that will help and the post player they have needed.

As much as I love ZZ and Jahmai, I think it's time to move on and I fully expect that Jahmai is done and pursuing his future.

ZZ might be a different situation since his family lives in Knoxville now but I would also assume their lives are very stable. Still....it would be hard to turn down a few hundred thousand or more for a season.

And now this guy gets his denied which I have zero understanding why? Played 21 for charlotte, 22 & 23 for BYU medical redshirt in 24 while at Louisville, should clearly have another year left but they denied him?

In essence, he’s asking for a six year window to play four. That’s the problem. He didn’t get an injury waiver previously.

You've warmed me up to Gainey as starting SG or in that 6th man role like last year, based on the current roster. Fills that gap, excellent depth, F4.
If he gets another year, I would love it if Barnes keeps him in the 6th man role. I don't think Gainey GAF if he starts. He seems to be a mature player that understands the role

Didn’t realize that, still wild he’s not getting a medical redshirt for this past year at Louisville when he didn’t play in a single game and rehabbed and injury

From SI:

“While the 2020-21 season had various COVID-related waivers attached across collegiate athletics, none applied to Khalifa. Additionally, Khalifa and Louisville could not just simply apply for a medical waiver on the 2024-25 season, as the waiver to extend the eligibility clock had to come first, per NCAA guidelines.”

For the record, I think he’ll win the appeal.
