His stats are right there in front of you minus rushing at comment 55.If he had all those attributes the he would at the least lock up the #2 spot. He has potential but you are being ridiculous.
Hmmm, so obviously you didn’t think before you typed. So the QB can be bad but the TEAM still wins. You are right, JG doesn’t have that luxury. When he plays bad, our team was nowhere near good enough to pick up the slack.
Too late. That’s the issue. So many people have no idea what we have sitting on our sidelines. Maurer may throw some picks but I can assure you he’ll light up the scoreboard as well.Great to have Bailey coming in.
Let's not throw Maurer and Shrout under the bus just yet. Both are talented and 6'3".
Shrout, or Maurer play one snap in a regular game. In my opinion of seeing the orange and white game, Maurer gives us the best chance to win unless JG is greatly improved, and the OL is greatly improved, simply because of his running ability. Just my opinion but again I want whoever gives us the best chance to win at qbI'm going to go ahead and speak heresy. Both Shrout and Maurer appear to be much more mobile than HB. Both have live arms. Both are as tall and are heavier. Both came out of HS programs where the talent surrounding them very likely suppressed their numbers.
I'm not writing HB as the starter following JG. I think either Shrout or Maurer or both will have something to say about that.
I truly hope JG has a great season something around or over 3K yards 28+ TD's 6 int. 150 yards rushing. It seems like it's a foregone conclusion on here he's going to be great and leave for the NFL.
I read on SDS , rating QB's on UGA's schedule of the 12 teams UGA plays , JG was 7th per their opinion. That's the east, OOC teams and west teams Auburn & T A&M.
I think he has some tools, if the OL is significantly improved. We have upper-SEC talent at WR, TE, and RB to help him. I think 20-25 passing TDs is certainly possible.I hope JG succeeds, I just haven't senn anything from him to see him throwing for 20 plust td. Didn't in hs, and not done it here in what 3 years. But maybe the new coaching will help him to be able to throw for more td
We'd have to start winning big and Clemson, Bama and Georgia start sliding to get in the top 5. Unlikely for the near future. Plus you still got LSU and others to compete with that are in hot beds. Only so many high recruits available each year and they're going to those schools mostly. Georgia is killing it and on paper they have a legit chance of taking it all this yearIf we start winning, you're absolutely insane to think we can't consistently pull in top 5 classes. Have to win. Alabama and Clemson certainly weren't pulling in top 5 classes year after year until they started winning too you know. We have everything those schools have except the results on the field.
Lol I figured by me using a ridiculous number for the time he has to throw and the fact it’s very unlikely he only threw on third downs people could comprehend that it’s an over exaggeration to emphasize a point. Guess I have to be literal on this board. I will admit it was more balanced between attempts on the different downs than I thought. You were right about that. That said If you think the oline and his ocs didn’t play a big part of why he wasn’t set up to have success then you obviously didn’t watch the games. I’ll admit his ability to make reads wasn’t the best it could’ve been. I think this season under Chaney where he should have a better oline, a better teacher to teach him the position (Chaney), and more freedom under Chaney will set him up better for success.if he can’t capitalize this season I’ll eat crow.im not afraid to admit when I’m wrong. I personally think he’s set for a big step up from previous seasons and that he’ll prove pffs takes true. Again that’s jmo you can hate on it if you want. Anyways this season will be very indicative of his ability one way or the other and I wish him and the vols the best and that they figure it out! GBO!False. JG threw 80 times on 1st down, 78 times on 2nd down, and 82 times on 3rd down.
Also false. But you only missed it by 2.499995 seconds.... or for those keeping score 99.9998% wrong.
Yes he has. His decision making has been too slow. You can find your own reason why but his two OC's didn't allow him to make and throw hot reads. He did not make good pre-snap reads.
He HAS proven that when he knows what to do and has the time... he's a very accurate passer with a strong arm. Hopefully Chaney and Weinke have built on that foundation because he has shown the physical talent to be a really good QB.
Well, here is where I differ from you a little, I don’t think a qb should be a starter based on seniority alone, especially on losing experience. The more talented player should be getting the experience, not sitting on the bench. His stats are right there in front of you minus rushing at comment 55.
I’m a Pruitt, JG, HB and any other UT supporter. So don’t get it twisted. But IMO JG is the starter (as he should be) due to experience and experience alone. If we’re talking about talent and talent alone BM is the most talented qb on 2019s roster. He’ll be the most TALENTED in 2020 as well. HB is as good as anyone from inside the pocket. So is BM. The difference is outside the pocket and that’s where BM can’t be touched.
As for him not locking up #2 yet. There are a lot of possibilities that none of us know as to why. Do we know the coaches don’t care about possibly RSing him? No. Do we know that he’s any more inconsistent than JG? No. Practice is closed to the public AND media so all we KNOW is what CJP wants us to know and a lot of that could be “smoke in mirrors”. Think about it K town. How does a 3* go though his recruitment as the state of Florida’s best QB, make his way to through the elite 11, compete at the opening finishing 5th, travel the country earning offers from every school he threw for including the likes of OSU and several others no one knows about, all while throwing routes on air suddenly lose his accuracy once he gets to UT? I don’t buy it. You can if you like. But my guess is just as many, if not more balls get away from JG and JT as they do BM and HB when he gets here.
I agree but the reason I say JG should start is because he deserves the opportunity to show where he’s grown along with BM needing a little weight and a better understanding of the playbook.Well, here is where I differ from you a little, I don’t think a qb should be a starter based on seniority alone, especially on losing experience. I believe HB will push JG harder than he's been pushed, to date. But, I believe JG will prevail, as a senior. Unless this season is another disaster. I also now fear the transfer portal, as in, losing HB to the portal, if he isn't given the nod, at some point. He can start at alot of other schools, right away.Relax. Apparently I’m the only person in this thread who thinks HB will give JG a run for his money.
Tee Martin made plays, with his legs and his arm. It wasn't his fault that the offensive line was full of nasty, mean, huge, evil SOB's. Or that his defense was probably the best in the country. I mean, when all else fails.......give the ball to Jamaal or Travis Henry. Tee made plays, when we needed them. He forced defenses to respect his passing ability, but they had to respect his ability to escape and create, as well. He didn't have monster stats, because it wasn't necessary. But he came up with big plays, at very crucial moments. His stats disagree.
I agree, he's got that play-maker quality for sure.Shrout, or Maurer play one snap in a regular game. In my opinion of seeing the orange and white game, Maurer gives us the best chance to win unless JG is greatly improved, and the OL is greatly improved, simply because of his running ability. Just my opinion but again I want whoever gives us the best chance to win at qb
Valid concern these days. I don’t see HB transferring unless we redshirt Maurer/Shrout this year and HB at some point concludes that they are better than him. Gotta think he’d be willing to wait at least 1 year for his turn, right?I believe HB will push JG harder than he's been pushed, to date. But, I believe JG will prevail, as a senior. You guys & gals have me intrigued with Maurer. Haven’t seen him play yet.Shrout, or Maurer play one snap in a regular game. I'd like to think so. But, he could play elsewhere, and start, in 2020. He's got to do what is best for him. Bottomline.Valid concern these days.
