Jerry Colquitt critical of Dooley on starting Worley

I think you should start the best player at the position, if that is a true freshmen so be it. If he still wants to redshirt a year let him redshirt next year.

If a true freshman has the chance to start 4-6 games, at quarterback no less, and still wants to redshirt... Let him transfer.

Why wasn't he screaming last year when we put Bray in? Bray lost his RS--What's the difference? We're in the same situation now--Simms tries hard, I like his spirit and attitude, but he just can't perform...What else could CDD do to win games?

Hate to hear this rant from a former Vol  because it only makes JQ look ..........GO VOLS!

I think Worley will be a better QB in 2013 because of this and not just because of the experience he'll gain this year as a starter. After getting a taste of what it's like being an SEC QB, he will work harder in the offseason and pay more attention in film study. All that combined will give us a much better chance to get a win IN THE SWAMP in 2013 as opposed to that game being Worley's first start in the SEC.

I won't go into great detail on how big that game will be. It is obvious. We should be coming off a solid 2012 season and that game will play a big part in sustaining the resurgence of Tennessee football.

so you're bashing Dooley for playing a kid that gives UT the best shot to win and also bashing him for something that happens in the future in your head? No wonder the guy can't win with some people

I have said from the second Worley came in the game that it was the wrong decision. I think we should have just cut our losses and continued building for the future. It's not like he should be or is going to be fired based on what happens this year. Next year is the first year the W-L record really matters.

So abandon the whole season for 1 player? What?

Exactly!

I haven't seen anything indicating Worley is upset so why the hell is anyone whining about his situation?

Worley is ready to go cause he's a competitor and I look forward to watching him.

Would you say that even if it meant not going to a bowl and not getting this young team those extra practices?

I wonder how much he was paid by the program's host to take that stance? I heard the shoe and it sure seemed as if the host was leading JC responses. Never put anything past TB.

Jerry is probably still pissed that Manning got the nod that year and that overshadowed him getting any media love for the rest of his career. lol

He didn't have a career after that injury. He was a fifth year senior, and an extra year of eligibility was denied. I know everyone, including the coaching staff was sick over that happening to a guy who had waited so patiently behind Shuler for his turn to play. Manning entered that game in a tie for third string with Branndon Stewart behind Colquitt and Helton.

Colquitt hung around Fulmer too long.

Dooley is right to try to win the games and who knows that Bray won't get injured next year.

If he does, then it will be great that Worley got some game time before then.

With Chaney here, we won't be lacking for great QB's.

I agree that situation was horrible, but he sounds a little butt hurt imo.

I think he pretty well explained why he felt this way. You may disagree with it, but that doesn't mean he's necessarily wrong. Why don't you go ask Worley if he thinks he is glad he gave up one of his years as the starter just so he can start two games (maybe as many as 4 depending on what happens with Bray) in an already lost season?

We need Worley to play now!!! We have 5 games plus a bowl game left, hopefully. Worley could RS next year if they wanted an extra year for him. What is so hard to understand about this?

Not the kicker. This is Jerry Colquitt. He was going to be the starter for the 1994 season. Got hurt on the first play from scrimmage against UCLA.

Sounds like a ***** to me

Haha I was expecting the word pussy to be edited, so I went ahead and did it myself

normally I would agree but Fulmer didn't really have an issue doing it with QB's either. He played 4 in 94 including 2 true freshmen (Jerry should remember that) and 2 true freshmen in 04

Too young to remember Jerry since I was all of 7 in 94 but this is complete garabage :disappointed: . We have seen Simms play not very good enough said . Dont want to flame the guy. If the Worley gives us the best chance to win lets go . Live do today not tommorrow its not promised to no one

Another great post... I'm impressed.
