They have to ask. They could be held liable if they know someone doesn’t have a license and let them drive off anyway.

It’s also not the fault of the officer if Banks has a warrant. It’s not the officers fault the friend didn’t have a valid license. It’s also not his fault the friend agreed to let the officer run his license.

Lol somehow for some people..........it’s always the cops......not the people who had or created the problem.

Sure some cops are bad.......but it’s a tiny fraction of the whole.

Memphis is one of the best cities in the world. Food, climate, sports, suburbs all world class.

O yeah and the traffic is literally nothing compared to Nashville

The cop allows an unlicensed person to drive a car and that person has a wreck and kills someone. But yeah, lets prevent cops from simple checks like that, while doing so lets ensure they cant be held liable either.
But off course, those fools dont think about things like that.

They would crucify the cop. Anyone that argues against the cop asking for verification is just stupid.

Do they check every person walkinf from their house to their driveway every morning? No. There was zero reason to ask to see that guy's license.

“Hey, I need to make sure you have a valid license before you drive off” ...........how is that harassment?

You either let them see your license or you don’t, that’s up to you (and the situation, but certainly in this situation one doesn’t have to)

Wild suggestion, but why not just let the coach deal with this? I mean, he's actually around the young man and knows more about his true character than any of us, not to mention he gets paid well to deal with this ****. I'm fine with whatever Pruitt decides.

Some people need to spend more time worrying about their own mistakes in life and less time about the mistakes of others they just read about. If you are not in this young man's life, I'm not sure your opinion should mean jack ****.

Memphis TN: 20.52 murders/year/100,000 we are about 50% safer than the Gaza Strip.

Wny would you check everyones license? You have had no legal reason to be in contact with that person, however in this case you have. But again dont expect you to understand that. Had he impounded banks car you would be complaining about that too. So either way, the cop is still a fool..

Oh my goodness

If the guy/girl has an accident, or simply something happens in or with the vehicle, and the police knew, and could have corrected but let the person drive the vehicle........yes they could be held liable.

My father was an officer, my brother has been an officer for over 20 years and I used to be one. I don’t know a lot about anything, but I know just a little about this.

Count me as a being among those amazed at the number of fans making excuses for Banks and his group of inappropriate comments.

If Banks were on any team facing us he would be skewered here.

We now have two players who remain on scholarship and active with the team who either fought with police or proclaimed it common to shoot them where he came from.

This is ******** and an indictment on a coach who not only can’t win football games, but also cannot foster an expectation of even basic civility.

And for what? A coupe of guys who barely contribute? You sell the soul of the program to protect a 4th string DB and a LB who they can’t even settle on a position?

This program deserves so much better than what we are getting.
