Jeremy Banks needs to be dismissed

Right ON, far too many are confusing Orange Mound for Cordova, most likely because they have never been to either.

Honestly, Orange Mound or Whitehaven isnt as bad as the rep it has. Parts of Hickory Hill, SW Memphis, North Memphis, and Binghampton are much worse than the Mound...

If you have ever been at the "mercy" of the KPD and their thuggish behavior, you understand this man's words completely.

Indubitably.

In 2010 at the Oregon game, a buddy of mine thought it wise to raid the north endzone during the lightning delay. Contrary to my more sober suggestions, he took to the field anyway to perform his version of the “Lambeau” leap. Quite funny actually, because the whole north endzone of Neyland was cheering him on like he just scored a TD. I was waiting for Rocky Top to come ablaze. With arms out, palms facing up, pumping the crowd, he performs a round-off for his warm-up routine. Crowd roars! Pumped with adrenaline, he storms the north wall, just west of the goal post, and becomes air borne. No ****, as soon as he landed on the wall, reaching for our outstretched hands to pull him up, a KPD officer had him by the ankles.

Another buddy and myself were seen as accomplices and were escorted out as he was arrested. Dude actually threatened to put us in the paddy wagon initially, but we got the hell out of dodge. We took the opportunity to further pad our buzz, so we went to Firedog and picked up some beer. We came back down the hill from 13th and entered the stadium, through unmanned gates, with beer in tow. We drank four and sold the other two to some frat kid. We came out several dollars ahead of what we spent. Once they got him to County, he was jailed with dozens of Oregon fans. They, too, thought that taking a stroll across Shields-Watkins was more than worth it. One Oregon fan that was in the tank with him said he was chased down the sidelines and tackled from behind, and as he was going to the ground, he “threw a flag” and said HORSE COLLAR (this was around the time this rule was initiated). We laughed about this episode for months.

I know it looks bad but he is a dumb kid that was frustrated. Honestly, I don't think that was an awful situation. Banks learns a lesson. Pruitt got to "support" banks but pruitt did not interfear.
I'm sure you don't know him well enough to question his intelligence. He said something stupid. Leave it at that.

So, now it’s the police that are thugs? That didn’t take long to blaming the cops. The cop didn’t suspend his license or issue the warrant. Sounds as if you already know the drill tho.

I’m still laughing at Pruitt: well, whydcha have to go arrest him just because he has a warrant?

I tend to act the fool and post a lot of nonsense on this site, but I say this with complete sincerity, thank you sir for what you do! There is no way in hell I would be a law enforcement officer amongst today’s society! Stay strong, level headed and be safe!
GBO!!

Appreciate it. I agree with what you said. Were I not a member of the "Old Guard", there's no way I would choose a career in law enforcement in today's environment. The Feds are doing okay at recruiting (salary and benefits are top-notch), but a lot of agencies at the State and Local levels are struggling to fill their ranks. Mine included. Which is one reason why there are about 6 of us that work other full-time jobs now who were asked to come back part-time. Our Sheriff is really good to us. I got a take-home ride, and can work whenever I want. My only limit is the 29 hrs/week part-time rule, which is rarely an issue. They call me from time to time to fill a shift, such as the weekend of October 11th, when I'll be working night shift Fri-Sun. Since the pay week changes at midnight on Sunday, I'll be right up against the 29 hr/week limit, and the next 7 hours (12 hour shifts) will fall into the next calendar week. Fuzzy math, but otherwise only 3 deputies covering over 700 square miles.

I figure I've got another year, maybe two...three at the outside left in me. After that, I'm done, and in "Grand Torino" mode. Get off my lawn.

I'll answer the 2nd part first. I'm an LEO. 19 years. In 2000, one of our Sergeants was shot and killed in the line of duty. I have been at two OIS's, and involved in one. I've rode the bull. So here's my take on "what will I say if an officer gets shot"...if they are going to shoot, they are going to shoot. Matters not what they said, or didn't say, or who was there when they did or didn't say it. So in that regard, his words are troubling, but meaningless. I've heard worse, directed at me. My next shift might be my last, but I won't lose a wink of sleep over what Jeremy said. All mouth.

Public apology. Community service. And a couple of night shifts in a patrol car somewhere in the projects and/or Magnolia Avenue. Let him see things from the other side. Maybe that might make a difference.

He's a young man. Let's give him a chance, and the guidance, to grow old. If he turns out to be a thug, then we all have a clean conscience. We tried.

Go Vols.

I'm not going to pretend to have a fair response to you.

I appreciate what you do and I honor you. You stop me for speeding, not coming to a complete stop at a red light, or making an unlikely U turn and I'll apologize for taking your time away from your more important duty and call you "sir". I won't threaten you and it won't be me you'll ever have to wonder about doing you harm. If you can say the same about someone with an arrest warrant who says he grew up where they shoot people who do what you do, then we'll just have to disagree how such individuals should be handled.

Thank you for what you do. I have no doubt you are top of line and wish you all the safety you deserve.

It's all good, brother. Just a difference of opinion. We could both be wrong.

FYI, if they're talking tough...they're usually not. I worry a lot more about the ones that don't say anything. And always watch the hands. All a tongue can do is bruise. It's the hands that kill.

To all the guys/girls that live in Memphis, I salute you! 17 yrs with MFD, I can assure you, things in Memphis aren’t as bad as they seem. They are worse! So, yeah I am most certain that JB has witnessed such behavior. He should be thankful to have a pathway away from that life. He should definitely learn from this and try to grow from it.

Kid shows no respect for legal authority. You think he respects anything else?

I drank my first beer and told a bouncer I would "rip his heart out". He laughed in my face.

At age 19-21, young men do odd things.

Judge verdict, "Not guilty and GOOOOOOOOOOOOO VOOOOOOLS!"

Cordova is not East of Germantown. Collierville is. And Cordova has had an influx of shady characters displaced from apartments being shutdown in the downtown area. They call it the “dirty Dova” for a reason

Per link, Corova is further to the right than Germantown.

You obviously arent from the area. Cordova is due north of Germantown. Parts of it do stretch further east than Gtown but a big chunk of the area near Shelby Farms is further West than anything in Gtown...
