Past 3 ADs and 3 coaching hires prior to heupel has us in the position we are in now. Based off state of this program it's a good hire for now
I think you give discreet groups of people too much credit for being able to keep secrets in operations involving dozens, nay, hundreds of people.
I’m guessing that’s a theme with you?
This is how criminal conspiracies fall apart all the time.
Tennessee is a sleeping giant. It’s like most of you have forgotten what we used to be. We have top 5 facilities, huge recruiting budget, an incredible football stadium, literally everything you need except a big time coach. So we can be “the big one” if we hired the right guy. But we continue to shoot our selves in the foot. You’ll see.
Did they really regress though? Or did they just fall back in line with the mean? UCF is not a destination job for any coach or AD. There is going to be constant ebb and flow of success at a place like that because high-level success isn't sustainable. Look at their last 10 seasons...Doesn’t change the fact UCF regressed under JH
Do you understand the purpose of Grumors in the previous 2 coaching searches?
This is what is funny to me. Hugh Freeze wrecks Ole Miss. Ole Miss gets in major trouble. Matt Luke becomes the Head Coach while they are on probation. He had a 6-18 record in the SEC.Our program is dead for good now
I believe I remember you wanting Matt Campbell? He dropped off at Iowa and Toledo 3 or four years in.And I don’t like the hire bc he’s gotten worse every year as more of Scott frosts recruits have left. I live in Orlando, believe me, UCF fans are thrilled we took him off their hands and that tells you everything
Was definitely considered a rising star and with the 3-0 start as interim his stock was rising fast to the point where he would have been given an opportunity to become a HC sooner rather than later . IIRC his name was being linked to the Arkansas job. I had not quite reached my teens but was fully engaged in all things orange and my family had some contacts on the board so I heard all the murmurs about “better lock down Fulmer before (insert team here ) lures him away” towards the end of the season before Majors heart attack. I think it’s common knowledge that to some degree Fulmer himself was behind some of these murmurings . To call him a “big time coach” however is a stretch. ”Promising up and comer “ is more like it.Seriously asking here, as I was a little young when this happened.... But was Fulmer a "big time coach" when he took over?
I actually would have made him priority number one if UT was going the coordinator route. He’s going to be a good one. I have family that are OM people and they are almost more scared of losing him than Kiffin. I get what you’re saying though.
