Doesn’t change the fact UCF regressed under JH
If that's the best you got, you're gonna have a long season or a return to sensibility, imo.
Context matters.
Is it important to undermine the choice the made because it wasn't yours and you can't do anything about it?

As far as I see, there’s only one coach in CFB that doesn’t regress, Saban. And he ain’t walking through the door anytime soon. If you start off 12-1, there’s not a whole lot of room to go higher, especially in G5. So then he turns around and has a 10 win season. Who around here wouldn’t kill for that? And then comes the season that I know you’re going to stick on, 6-4. Multiple opt outs to begin the season. Then they lose to Memphis by one, 8th ranked Cincinnati by 3, then 24th ranked Tulsa by 8. Then comes the bowl, where admittedly they got boat races by number 16 BYU, who by the way UT couldn’t beat in Neyland the year prior.

Nah there’s more than that. Just browse UCF forums they’re thrilled we took their problem off their hands. And his team regressing is literally all the proof that is needed. Garbage hire.

As frosts recruits left, his teams got worse. His recruiting is hot garbage, 7th in the AAC. When this hire flops I’ll see you guys in the next coaching thread. Horrific hire

I don’t get the fascination with Campbell either. Don’t understand it. His offense is ok #26 in the nation this year but #96 in rushing! Not good! You have to run the ball in the SEC. His record at Iowa State is a whopping 35-28 (overall 70-43)! Not all that great but not bad. Before this year he was barely over .500 at Iowa State. Northern Iowa has beat him a couple of times as well.

Lebby would be a slam dunk hire and is an obvious option at OC given the background with Heupel.

He would be a massive upgrade on what Chaney produced based on his work at Ole Miss this season.

So ....clearly.....there is no way this actually happens and we end up with a Google coach who was an offensive assistant somewhere.

They went bargain basement with Heupel, they aren't going to spend for his assistants IMO.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if they do.

Context matters, no matter what your agenda is. I'm not gonna bother w/ trying to break it down for ya. You don't care about that.
You do you.

From 09-2015 their previous coach Paul Rhodes was 32-55. Campbell took over in 2016 and has turned that dump of a program into at least a respectable one. That’s called improvement unlike the guy we hired whose team got worse once he took over.

The OC is going to be a splash hire. But that really depends on personal preference and what type of "splash" you're looking for.

Its going to be somewhere between Goose ejecting in Top Gun and splashing down and the Triple Lindy dive from Back to School. Your pendulum for where the splash falls: a fat girl on a rope swing at the lake..
I don't see any splash hires at UT for the foreseeable future....especially at OC since Heupel has already made clear he's calling plays. Not sure how that will work out at this level, but it's his neck. What he desperately needs is a great DC and a staff filled with guys who can develop players. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing 4 and 5 star busts. Maybe if we get solid recruits and show we can develop them, we can attract higher rated kids the right way ala Barnes. That would allow us to have a staff of real coaches instead of salesmen that feel the need to go out and buy recruits. Gonna be a long, tough road. Not sure how much stomach for UT sports I have left, but maybe this guy will surprise in a good way. Not getting my hopes up anymore tho.

You think Campbell was interested in coming to the Hill?

If people are pumping Heupel and dumping on Campbell, they can't be helped. They want to sheep it up so bad for their new guy because they want the pain to end. Sadly, they are very likely supporting a continuation of the current disaster. Heupel's flaws, as a coach, will only be further exaggerated here.

On the UCF board. Don’t find it a bit ironic they were reporting this over a week before we were?

The only article I saw also said that Tee was staring and his flirtation with UCF was a ruse so Heufel could interview him for the TN job. If that’s the article you are referring to, it has proved to be totally false.

I have my hopes up higher than any coach since Fulmer. CJH has no Saban connection so that is a plus..well..for at least 3 to 4 years....

No article, just a insider on the UCF board. He could be FOS, but I find it ironic the insider says this then a week later we hire JH

They probably all defended Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt too. I wish I could be blind and be happy about the hire. Keep blabbing about how great his offenses are but don’t want to mention how his teams regressed and his defense gave up almost 500 yards per game

You guys act as though we ignored everyone just to hire Heufel. Be realistic for a change. You are at a school, doing well, making good money, respected and admired by most in your community, but you would uproot everything to go to the SEC, to a school with significant NCAA sanctions likely coming, so that you and your family can be ridiculed if you don’t win 10 games a year. The job isn’t attractive right now. Face it. We got told no a lot.

I’m not convinced we really tried for him. There’s sources from January 18th claiming DW was already talking to JH about coming here.

Truth. I don't really think we tried for anyone. I think the admin is selling a false narrative to the media and fans, who are lapping it up like catnip, while they make another lazy low budget hire and continue cashing the SEC checks. "Guys, we just aren't the program we used to be. This is the best we could do under the circumstances...baaah baaaah...poor pitiful me". So stupid. The admin doesn't give a rip about football, they want to cash those high dollar SEC checks and move on.

Us hiring the UCF AD them him just coincidentally hiring the UCF HC is eye opening. Especially when UCF insiders were mentioning exactly what has happened now over a week ago. If you can’t see the irony then I can’t help you.
