Okay. Have it your way and make a list. I hope I'm wrong. Let's rehash this after the last game of the season. As far as your list goes, they were elite enough to get the job done. Don't bet your paycheck on a non-elite QB leading UT to any championships this season. Just saying. So Greg McElroy and Craig Krenzel were "elite QBs"?
May have been. I thought it was the right tackle's. I could be wrong. Regardless, it was a lineman that allowed the defense to push him back into arm's reach of the qb.
Great. Schaeffer was more athletic than Ainge, James Banks more than Clausen, Stewart more than Manning, Martin more than Manning. Doesn't mean he's a better quarterback.
Literally said he is a year away. This offense only thrives with a mobile QB so we all should hope he develops into a solid one. Which I think he will in a year or so. But go ahead and compare one of the best damn quarterbacks college or the NFLs ever seen to our current situation.
I'm not talking about the post before that. I'm talking about the post I quoted where you were simply talking about athleticism. What about all the other ones who had backups that were more athletic?
And this offense has done fine so far with Dormady. It has a stable of running backs who can do their jobs, very athletic receivers who look great when they do their jobs, and quarterback who can be trusted to make the pre-snap reads and checks, and can make the throws. As long as the line keeps getting better, along with everyone else, a run-first (Dormady is mobile enough, so I'm not using that word) is not needed.
And you seem to be saying that athleticism is the end all, but clearly history says that's not true, because if it was Crompton would've been better than Ainge.

That was two without looking anything up.They weren't in the neighborhood of elite and they weren't solitary examples. History of football is dotted with such. I'm not a gambling addict but thanks for the advice. Just because YOU have rendered a verdict on Dormady doesn't make it case law btw. Take your loss and call your mother. Just saying.

When did I say the offense wasn't fine? So far...we've yet to play a solid defense so who knows? Dormady is a hell of QB but will he excel with this staff and offense? We've had one wide receiver have a breakout performance so let's not get carried away. You compare the likes of Brent. You do realize that we no longer run a pro style offense right? So comparing the past is irrelevant. Butch wants to run a spread? He needs mobile QBs.
No, he needs a guy that can still make the reads, make the checks, and make the throws. He's got that. Does Dormady need to get better? Absolutely. But he very easily can thrive without being a mobile QB.
I think Butch was sending a personal message to him that he wasn't ready just to bring him back down to earth a little bit.
Alright. We will see this weekend when we play a defense worth it's salt. Have a feeling they're just going to pin off on John Kelly every play.
That's because we have eyes and can see it.
His screen pass touch is good. His deep ball touch is good. But he needs to learn his medium passes don't have to travel at 500MPH. He is going to be good, but he isn't ready yet.
You can say it over and over and over... it still isn't true. He's made mistakes. But you guys either don't understand what it means to stare down a receiver... or are watching a different game. And pick off the passes that Dormady looks down his receiver the whole time, oh wait that is every play!!!!
