When you explain it that way, soft does come to mind. If soft means having a heart and caring for other’s feelings.

Sounds like you have kids that have required a gentle hold. I’m right there with you. I was gentle with my babies too. Having kids is a life changing event the seems to never end.

The kid took a beatings at running back for the Big Orange. Many times hit as he got the ball or shortly thereafter. He took a pounding game after game.

He also has some of the softest hands you'll see as a receiver. He catches the ball like a mother cradling her baby. Just go back was watch some of his catches.

I'll take the 49ers evaluation over most. Regardless of what some may say the kid can get open

Never understood the hate thrown Hurd’s way when he left. He wasn’t happy and had every right to pursue something different. Changing positions was probably a good move as he wasn’t likely to be viewed highly as an NFL RB due to his inability to break away for long runs.

Since the late Reggie Cobb was one of the main scouts for the 49ers and lived in Texas, I bet Hurd was one of the last players he scouted and graded before his unfortunate death. I trust Reggie.

I was one that knocked Hurd when he left. Then I understood what he went through when it came out how badly he was mistreated by Coach Buzzcut. I don't fault him at all now for how he handled things while here and when he left. Jones done him a disservice by his treatment of him and his broken promises to him. I think that he will have a stellar career in the NFL while Jones continues to make Dunkin Donuts runs for Saban.

He’ll never be a in-line TE, he may flex out as a TE every once in awhile, play the occasional H-back, but he’ll play primarily in the slot and occasionally at wideout imho. He’s 6’4” and currently at 226lbs. He’s not traditional TE material.

It blew my mind at the time how he left the team. Once some info came out on how Butch operated, it blew my mind at how long he stayed.

The two times I remember Hurd getting his clock cleaned, he was on offense. Once against Ga and then again against SC. Sure it could happen on special teams in the NFL. But that means he is playing in the NFL.

The observation I'm making is that he will be more effective on special teams (getting knocked out) than catching the football against NFL defenders.

Though, part of me does think of how crazy it would've been to have a WR corps with Preston Williams, Jalen Hurd, Jauan Jennings, Marquez Callaway, and Josh Palmer all at the same time! Not that it wouldn't have been squandered with the O-line issues.

As an H-Back/split end he would've been an outstanding blocker because of his physicality and pass pro if needed. I wanted him to go to New England because he can be used like Rob Gronkowski.

Well first off I'm not a bitter old fart but if I was anything I happen to say would be better than anything that has come from your idiotic mouth. The Niners didn't spend a high draft pick on him to play special teams but if that's what you want to believe that's fine. Stop spouting off b.s. on subjects you obviously know little to nothing of. And don't try to twist it into ' I was making an observation blah, blah, blah'. Everyone here knows your intent was to tear Hurd down because he didn't meet or live up to the standards that you had placed on him. Your post was nothing more than a wish of ill will towards him but regardless if he never takes the field he'll always be more successful than you could hope to be. Good day, sir.
