It blows my mind that Indiana was 3-9 in 2023, then 11-2 one year later and now 14-0 with wins over Oregon and Ohio State and completely embarrassed Alabama. How does a coach turn around a program so quickly?

I wish Tennessee had that kind of turnaround. Indiana is the real deal.

That said as much as I like Heupel I really wish we’d hired Cig instead. Imagine where we’d be as a program. Lordy.

Oh yeah, we couldn’t go get him now for any amount of money. My comment was just day dreaming having watched the difference from a guy in year 2 at a program and how they have used the portal and NIL vs how we have done it. We simply aren’t as good at it as other teams/coaches.

Yeah, I looked that up. Kid has a good head on his shoulders apparently and is getting an MBA from IU.

Even if he tanks in the league, I suspect his prospects are good.

I don’t think anyone is jumping on their bandwagon necessarily. You have to respect what they’ve done in such a short amount of time considering their history. It’s been a fantastic coaching job. More than that, it shows how the playing field has been leveled is short order with NIL and the portal, both of which I’m not particularly a fan of in the form they have taken. I think we’re just seeing and appreciating a really good story in college football.

I believe you have to pay attention and show some appreciation when a team is doing something really well. Otherwise, we’re going to continue wondering aimlessly while we ponder why everyone else is where we want to be.
