At first glance it looks like a class that will probably finish about #15 nationally and #6 in the SEC. Good but not great and certainly not worth keeping him for.
One recruiting has us at no. 4. Another one has us at number 10. No two in the SEC., and no. 6. So, I don’t know right now how the rankings will fall.

Currently 10th on 247 with the most commitments of any program in the country. Will likely finish 7th in the conference. I don't know why people keep saying recruiting is so good.
Yes, I saw that one, but there is another one has us at no. 4. Now, I can’t remember which one that is?

Looks at Tennessee Ath Dept finances for 2020....

NO!!!

If you're a coach looking to flunk, 2020 is definitely your year.

So, you're saying Pruitt and company are 'pretty smart'?
I’ve always thought that Pruitt is pretty smart. I think he will figure all of this out. You know,Kirby Smart has had qterback problems since 2018. He trots out Bennett, and he isn’t no better. They have a 5 star sitting on the bench.

This year is a flyer...a free shot on the goal if you will.
I would be shocked if ANY coach gets shown the door this year.

That said though the thing that gets me about Pruitt is you know there is some job security this year, your recruiting class is fairly solid and mostly locked down, why in these games where you get down by multiple scored are you not putting in the underclassmen?
It's a prime opportunity for them to gain live game reps that you just can't give them in practice.

Look at the average player ranking (3.46 with 26 commits). We are about maxed out on numbers and we're not going to be adding any 5*s with this year's results on the field. Look at the teams behind us, many of which have plenty of open spots. Ratings wise, the 2021 class will be lower rated than the 2020 class.

Why don’t we just tell any coach that would even possibly consider coming here that they must work for minimum wage until they prove themselves to the fan base. We might get a high level D10 coach to give us a call. 🙄

Voted 1-2 years but technically if he did something that triggered a cause firing such as NCAA violations, criminal or outrageous amoral activities, then it's possible.

Probably more likely Pruitt hops into an NFL gig to avoid the fate that has befallen Dooley and Butch, the big payday is one thing, but Pruitt don't seem capable of doing much more than operating a defense where somebody else assembles the talent, anything else and he needs to drop out of the the Power 5 grid where his shtick is better suited to smaller programs in smaller conferences

Nothing Pruitt can do on field wise will get him fired this year. If his team doesn't show major improvement in the back half of the season he should go into next year on the hot seat. Anything less then 8 or 9 wins next year and a conversation needs to be had.

I am shocked we are here already with all the talk going on... but if we end up finishing say 3-7 or get beat by Vandy and blown out by others with no big win, etc. do you think it is actually possible Pruitt is on the hot seat to be removed as head coach at the end of THIS season???

I'm not sure I can handle another coaching search already.... but what do you think?

There won't be any coaching change. Yes, we got beat by Alabama but that was expected this year just as losing to Georgia was too. We did not expect to lose to Kentucky. We know Quarterback is an issue and we would like to see some of the younger players play but we are not at practice and we do not see what goes on during practices. Yes, I would like to see it too.

BUT, we are in year 3 of a rebuild that has been sabotaged by 2 bad coaching hires previously. We are still leaning more on Butch Jones' carry over players and youth. You can't compare us to any other rebuild going except maybe Nebraska which we are definitely ahead of in our rebuild. Pruitt didn't walk into a ready made championship team like Kirby Smart did at Georgia. Even Saban inherited a more stable program at Alabama when he took over. IT takes time. Playing musical head coaches because it isn't happening fast enough isn't the answer. This is why Butch Jones was the best we could get. Pruitt was told by coaching friends not to take the Tennessee job due to the lack of talent. IT will take a complete overhaul of our roster. Which means we have 2 more years before we will be comparable to where Saban was when he took over at Alabama.

It takes time and we need to give our coaches the support to succeed instead of trying to stab them in the back. GBO

No. However if they fire him, he can go back to Bama and help Butch while UT pays out his contract. Why don't Universities have performance clauses for coaches??
