Look at the average player ranking (3.46 with 26 commits). We are about maxed out on numbers and we're not going to be adding any 5*s with this year's results on the field. Look at the teams behind us, many of which have plenty of open spots. Ratings wise, the 2021 class will be lower rated than the 2020 class.
I don’t believe for one second that the 2021 class will fall below the 2020 class.

Why do you think these recruits are loyal?

Not saying they arent but wonder why theybwoild ne anymore than other recruits
I think these recruits are coming here to help us out, with already what we have. They have their reasons to come here to play. Pruitt is the reason. I think these guys know that it will turn around with their help.

He aint getting farred. Building a team from ground zero takes time if done the right way. The problem is we have gone 13 years and haven't sniffed our expectations. Patience is hard to ask for.

I am shocked we are here already with all the talk going on... but if we end up finishing say 3-7 or get beat by Vandy and blown out by others with no big win, etc. do you think it is actually possible Pruitt is on the hot seat to be removed as head coach at the end of THIS season???

I'm not sure I can handle another coaching search already.... but what do you think?

Honestly, I would rather suck and get our budget right and get the right coach should Pruitt continue his struggles. By happenstance, we will also have shown and proven that we are willing to give a coach plenty of time. Butch got 4, Pruitt will get 5. After that, no more bonehead hires.

I agree that JP is stupid hill trash from butthole mountain Alabama, but despite his hardheadedness, he might be the guy.

WHY WAS PRUITT EXTENDED IN WEEK 2?

I must admit that I was quiet shocked when Fulmer was reported a few weeks ago as giving Pruitt an extension. Now, I like Pruitt and I'm hoping for him to bring us back to prominence. But I'll swear I have no clue why Fulmer would extend him a week or so into the season.
It's not like Pruitt's going to quit Midway through the season and take another job, even if he won some games.

Extending him early is risky because of what's happening right now and we're getting blown off the field by rivals and mediocre teams. Now you've extended him and he may be a colossal failure that you're going to pay for even longer.
He already has a big recruiting haull early in the cycle. So, why extend him now, when those recruits are already committed? Just wait, and let the season play out to see if Pruitt is actually the guy in year three.
Year three is when you get a real taste of what you're probably going to get with this guy. If he fails badly in year three, then start cutting your losses and prep for year four while looking for another coach. If he excels and we win the East and challenge for the SEC, then extend him after the season. It's not like any of those recruits are going anywhere if the season goes good. And if the season goes bad and it requires extending him to keep the recruiting class together, then why are you extending him at all because the season sucks?

I have no idea what Fulmer was thinking when he did this . Makes no sense to me , unless I'm missing a big piece to the puzzle somewhere.

No. Also, who would we get to replace him ? Not going to be much of a coaching carousel this year during a pandemic with schools already hemorrhaging money.

anyone on this list would be a huge improvement over pruitt. seriously - the old adage of "who can we get, 'cause (insert current year's excuse)?" is not an issue when you have a sack of potatoes as head coach. the more time ut spends with this bum, the worse it's going to get.

I assume he did that thinking a covid year was a giveme and we were coming off a winning streak... but.... not sure it was the right thing at the time

Maybe a couple of the coaches, but not all of them. We’re not getting to the promise land with Sonny Dykes or Navy’s head coach, not even dare I say Mike Leach? ( I really hope that pisses people off, sick of hearing about it). So why trade for a guy that YOU and others say is a “sack of potatoes” for another couple of guys who will get us 8-5 too? Luke Fickel might be a good hire, but I can’t wait to see what the reaction would be to another Cincinnati coach being hired. And let’s say we hire him and in a couple years Ryan Day gets tired of owning the B1G and maybe even wins a CFP and the right NFL situation comes his way. Who do you think gets that first call? Luke Fickell. I have a hard time believing that Fickell wouldn’t take that job if he has success here. If he doesn’t have success what’s different about him than Pruitt if he doesn’t beat the Big 3? A loss is a loss no matter how many points it’s by.

Look, Pruitt and this staff haven’t magically forgot how to coach football. Their track record speaks for itself . I think burning it down, again.... would be a colossal mistake at this juncture . Nevermind the fact that financially most AD’s are in a helluva bind. I’m not saying I’m satisfied and I’m not saying anyone should be, but I disagree that it would be in our best interest to move on .

Is it wrong that I'm starting to look forward to coaching searches? It's the most exciting thing around TN football right now.

At this point, Pruitt hasn't shown the ability to utilize the players to the best of their abilities. We've got to give him a chance to do it, but there is no history of him doing it since he's never been a head coach. At least not anyting remotely close to this level
3 years is enough to at least have a well coached team

Who's writing the check?

And is that before they figure out how much covid has cost the Ath Dept. this year, with that possibly even carrying over to next year, or after.

If your even able to figure that out, who is the AD making the hire? Its not the current one.

For better or worse short of a scandal, the type where the buyout is nulled he's not going anywhere unless he decides to leave on his own.
the financial hit to the athletic dept from covid wont be anything like the hit it will receive from the apathy of fans if pruitt is still here, tn fans have seen enough poor coaches the last 10 years to recognize one when.they see it, and pruitt is a poor coach, tn fans wont continue to blindly support this loser like they did for dooley and butch...theyve seen what that results in

No. However if they fire him, he can go back to Bama and help Butch while UT pays out his contract. Why don't Universities have performance clauses for coaches??
Jimmy Sexton will not allow it.
Coaches will not sign it.
The pinnacle of a coach's career is usually an SEC level head coaching job.
Having worked their way up the ladder, they have a very short window of opportunity to be compensated for their life's work. The pressure to win just about assures quick turnover in the profession.
There are not a lot of coaches that have resumes deemed acceptable to the bigger programs.
Competition for them is high. You have got to pay to play with the big boys.
