it was a Oliver Hazard Perry frigate made of aluminum superstructure..USN decided it wasnt a good material for fires, so they went back to steel on the Arleigh Burke class..plus what they saw in the Falklands conflict.

The shooting down of the Iranian passenger plane was done by the USS Vincennes in 1988.
