For being a socialist, he sure doesnt have any socialist support.

if anything, it is state capitalism, not socialism.

Having DoW owning a stake in a critical mineral mine is no biggie. no different than gov owned naval shipyards.

Intel is only one I know that doesnt make sense, but all he did was get a stake in the company rather than a free subsidy. Not that I agree with subsidies, but those are given all the time by all gov levels.

To the Truth Deniers: Did ships pass through the Strait yesterday unscathed? Is the IGRC saying that ships can now pass through and they will not attack them? Answer yes.
And the Iranian learned that they couldn't do squat and then freaked out and cried uncle. Even NPR admits it.

State capitalism is just a soft form of socialism. It’s an oxymorons. The USSR started as state capitalism, China is currently state capitalist.

Socialism is state ownership and control of production. The US gov action do not meet this standard.

We can argue quasi socialist actions, but even socialists agree Trump isnt a socialist. Like saying someone who drinks wine for dinner is an alcoholic.

Is the world better off with Iran neutered? The closing of the Strait will not be of any concern going forward (it was a constant threat til now. Why were the insurance premiums so high?). The U.S. has changed the calculus of the globe in the last year.

Socialism has evolved over time. Universal healthcare is called socialism, Obama and Biden were called socialists, Nordic countries are called socialist. If we apply this standard Trump is no different

If we go by the traditional definition socialism then i agree he’s not and it has no chance of coming to America

The commies have learned that having sharecroppers is more profitable than straight up slavery. All tyrants come to that conclusion or they go out of business. "State Capitalism" is doomed as well. When faced with the free market it is like a boxer with handcuffs in a fight with Ali. In the end it succumbs to the innovation and the motivation created by the free market. That is why we are the greatest nation in the history of the world.

Are you saying that Iran has never pulled this crap in the past and it wasn't a constant threat? Answer: Iran has been a constant threat and they often use that threat. Do the '80s tanker wars ring a bell? That's what caused the insurance premiums to go through the roof.

There have been numerous incidents since the 1980s when Iran has harassed and even attacked commercial shipping in the Straight. During the Iran/Iraq war they closed it with attacks, mines and threats for almost 2 years.
