My dad was retired Navy. He served on the Lexington at some point. Either before I was born or when I was a baby. I was born in Pensacola. His last duty station before he was medically retired was Mayport. The Saratoga and the Forrestal were both stationed there at the time. He was on a DDG, the USS Tattnall, before they transferred him to shore duty. Earlier in his service, he fell down a large ladder while underway. Landed on his feet, but landing on that steel decking tore up his knees. Had several operations, but it reached a point he just couldn't keep climbing up and down the ladders on ship, so they forced him to retire. He loved the Navy. I think he would have served forever if he could have. Cried the day of his retirement.

Dad originally enlisted in the Navy because he was about to be drafted. Vietnam era. He didn't think he could handle shooting people, so he chose the Navy before the government decided for him. People forget, a lot of older veterans didn't have a choice to serve, they were drafted into it.

Trump must like the weekends. B2s first hit Iran on a weekend and hit Venezuela on a Saturday. Now he hits Iran overnight on Friday into Saturday. Pretty much meets the definition of weekend warrior, no? This was pretty easy to predict considering talks had been unproductive and large assets don’t move into a region to sit still.

if you read your link - 49% were opposed. the unsure and in favor of was 51% so calling this against the will is inaccurate.

Have you ever imagined the fact that some of the people on VN that argue back and forth could possibly work at the same company or live on the same street and we'd never know. I wonder how many times VN users have crossed paths and maybe even spoke with one another and never know it was their internet adversary.

I didn't put them in the yes group - just saying that slightly less than 1/2 opposed. Hard to say that is the "will of the people"

There was no clear "will of the people" on the issue.

I don't think this is a war at all. I don't think there is a possibility of a war in this situation. There is no win for Iran, just losing more.

That's weird man. I never think about you...at all. There are several posters on here I am buddies with, and a few that I have come to know offline as well. Each one a good person and I am thankful that I know them. You and I don't know eachother. I know that our political views are usually opposite, but thats no big deal to me. I am definitely a little crazy but pharmaceuticals are not what I need...especially extremely addictive Benzodiazipines like Valium. They are 1 of only 3 groups so addictive that withdrawal from them can be fatal: opiates, alcohol, and benzos. Not good. I read something here a while back that 25 to 30% of liberal women are on mind altering drugs like benzos. Maybe thats part of why they are so irrational and gullible. As for me...I bang out "stream of consciousness" posts at about 60words per minute with my 2thumbs. Always on mobile, and rarely serious. It would be unwise to ever let something I posted here upset you or cause you concern for me or anyone else. I dont take this stuff seriously, and you shouldn't either IMO. VN is a good place to relax and cut up with buddies to me anyway.

I once heard someone say that 42% are suffering from diagnosed mental illness and the other 58% haven't been to the doctor yet. It's a joke; but a funny one.

Amen. Found out the other day I am apparently a " Zionist"....because I believe as most Christians i know that Israel belongs to the Jews. Pretty cool I managed to be all Zionist without even trying. If only everything were that easy...
