if you read your link - 49% were opposed. the unsure and in favor of was 51% so calling this against the will is inaccurate.
So you think everyone who is unsure is going to be in favor? Incredibly disingenuous. If you look at election polling usually the undecided vote goes 50/50 with slight leans towards the incumbent or challenger based on how the direction of the country is going.
The opposition is 2x those in favor of war. Which means the unsure/undecided would most likely break even to make it 65% of Americans against war to just 35% in favor.
