Iran

The Islamic Republic isn’t in charge anymore?
I would say I’m in the wait and see camp on that one. This whole deal could go a number of ways. The council of three now running things have some decisions to make. Will be interesting in the coming days.

I think they’ll announce a permanent Leader pretty quickly. I’d be surprised if it’s not Khamenei’s 2nd oldest son

Hopefully it all works out for the Iranian people. People acting like killing an 87 year old leader some how destroyed their entire regime is silly. Still a long way to go

You joined in 2024…

Nobody was even using this website in 2001. There were other Vol websites with political forums full of Americans laughing at the idea that the Taliban would or even could win the war in Afghanistan. They were pointing to individual engagements where the Taliban lost large numbers of soldiers, going "See! They can't defeat us!" Despite many of them being alive during the Vietnam War, their knowledge of it appeared that they were informed only by the movies Rambo and Full Metal Jacket. They never heard nor read about the conversation between US Army Col. Harry Summers and North Vietnamese Army Col. Nguyen Don Tu just days before the Fall of Saigon during negotiations:

Col. Summers: "You know you never defeated us on the battlefield."

Col. Tu: "That may be so, but it is also irrelevant."

Summers later used this exchange as the epigraph for his book, On Strategy: A Critical Analysis of the Vietnam War (1982). He argued that the US military failed because it focused on tactical success while losing sight of the strategic and political objectives.

We never learn from our mistakes, because the mistakes are so profitable financially, so we willingly repeat them.

Does anyone enter WW3 to back up Iran? Or do we just obliterate Iran and they have no allies that enter the dispute?
I don’t think Russia has the will or ability. China probably pays lip service to Iran, but I don’t think they get involved here. Now Iran has pi$$ed off their ME neighbors by lashing out at them indiscriminately. Houthis/Yemen may try to support them? Conglomeration of jihadist groups? Idk.

LOL That's decades of democrat rule in both the Mayor's and Governor's office. They don't seem to be in any hurry to get the city cleaned up before the 2028 Olympics.

Los Angeles is a predominately Christian city. I read the Bible, including the New Testament, one time through decades ago, but I don't remember a part in red ink stating, "Abandon your poor and use your money to bomb children of total strangers in a country you can't find on the map." If that's what Jesus said, he must be beaming with pride these days.

I’m surprised the Houthis haven’t done anything they’re almost always first to jump in

ME countries hated this regime but I’m very surprised how the IRGC is targeting them, They’re not just hitting US assets

So is this going to be the leftist playbook to keep saying that the US and Israel bombed a school when there is evidence that looks Iran might of bombed the school by accident. Nobody knows the facts on this but we will just keep saying that the US and Israel did it.

"abandon your Poor" or "Heroine/Fent Addicts"?
Don't act like there isn't options available for those in that video.

This article showed up in Apple News Feed. Houthis are in as are groups in Iraq, it seems.

ā€œAs Iran responded to US and Israeli strikes by bombing the Gulf and Israel, its proxies joined the fray. Bases belonging to the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq were struck by either the US or Israel, killing at least two members of the armed Iraqi group Kataib Hezbollah.

The Iran-backed groups responded by coming to its aid, with Kataib Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houthis both warning they would be joining strikes on US military bases across the region.ā€
