I don't think some of you get it

My thoughts: the very same group of whiners that argues vociferously with anybody who dares suggest that a game can be a "moral victory"...that you can be happy with the way a team looks when you lose a game but plays well, will also go on to bi*tch and complain after a game like this.

If all that counts is the W next to UT's team name, then you have no right to complain about games like this. If you can complain about games like this, then you can feel good about watching progress in close losses. You can't have it both ways.

And before any of you try to get cute, and suggest that the very same inconsistency applies to the more positive among us: we were playing today with a grotesquely depleted roster. We were having to rely entirely on Marlin Lane, behind a patchwork offensive line, and with, basically, our B team out there at WR. Sure we didn't play that well, but we managed to pull ourselves together and get a 6 win season, and move on to our first bowl in a few years.

Yeah, for thinking we played poorly because we could barely hold off arguably the worst team in the history of the SEC. A team who was blown out at home vs Temple and blew out Charleston Southern by 1 grand point. You're right. What kind of fan would point that out? I should be banned for pointing that out.

I'm changing my tune. We were great out there today boys. Who wouldn't take a 7 point win and being out gained in total offense against that mighty 3-8 Vandy team. My bad wookie for offending you and VolNation.
Thanks

I don't think you get it. The worst vandy team in modern history just went toe to toe with us for 4 quarters.

I well remember losing to a mediocre Tiger High (Memphis) team with Peyton at QB and a team that was a year away from a National Championship. It just happens even to really good teams by lesser teams that feel disrespected and with nothing to lose. A "W" is a "W".

Vanderbilt was atrocious, but "arguably the worst team in the history of the SEC" is most definitely hyperbole. They lost to South Carolina by 14, Kentucky by 10, Missouri by 10, and us by 7. That is 4 relatively close SEC East games.

I think the frustration lies in letting opportunities slip away (UF and UGA games come to mind). Tonight's performance, although explainable up to a point, was still deflating.

However, your point is valid. Team 118 accomplished something the previous four teams didn't. I love our team . . . As do the rest of us. It's just the product if so many years of being let down. We'll get back. These steps are just painful to watch sometimes.

When we suck next year, whats going to be the excuse?

BTW, I dont think we're going to suck next year, but I dont think we'll win more than 7-8 games,
so people are still going to beetch.

You suck every year. What's your excuse?

Lol just kidding, you're cool!.........kinda

We will be a little above middle of the road next year. No excuses.

And Robinette didnt play most of the season either and he is by far their best QB
