I don't think some of you get it

that vandy team we played last night would beat temple now. they have gotten better as well.

No way of knowing that. And I don't think anyone was saying this after their 51-0 loss to Miss St last week. I'm guessing most looked at that and said "well what do you expect? They freaking lost by 30 to TEMPLE".

I don't think you get it. The worst vandy team in modern history just went toe to toe with us for 4 quarters.

I don't think you understand that Vandy doesn't care about any other game except ours. They always play us tough. Let's look at when UT was pretty good with Peyton here.

1994: UT record 8-4. Vandy record 5-6. We beat Vandy 65-0 ...with Peyton

1995: UT record 11-1. Vandy record 2-9. We beat Vandy 12-7 ...with Peyton

1996: UT record 10-2. Vandy record 2-9. We beat Vandy 14-7 ...with Peyton

1997: UT record 11-2. Vandy record 3-8. We beat Vandy 17-10 ...with Peyton

Vanderbilt usually is pretty terrible and in the mid 90s, I think we all saw that they were a little bit more terrible than they are now. They still have some little talent left from Franklin. Guys like Azubike, Jelks, and Townsend are pretty good, even though we think they suck balls. Like I said, they usually play their best against us because we are pretty much their bowl game at the end of the season. With the stinch Franklin left, they now believe they can beat us anytime, and of course, that mindset is quickly dissolving.

I replied with this in another post as well:

Vandy didn't get beat by the others as bad as you're suggesting: SC 48-34; KY 17-7; GA 44-17. And Vandy scored more points on FL than we did, 34-10. And Mizzu only 24-14. The same Ole Miss team that whooped us 34-3 beat them only 41-3. Then of course there's Miss State 51-0.

And we went toe to toe with AL every bit as much as Vandy went toe to toe with us.

You do realize that our whole offense was the "B" team, right?

Despite your embellishment, I get it.

What you seem to be missing is exactly how bad Vandy has looked all season on defense until coming against this offense that is supposedly predicated on "next man up".

We replaced our center and top receiver and RB sense the SC game and still won, with this freshman team, we went 6 and 6 and bowl, even in the glory years Vandy played us tough, you know you are climbing the hill when people B@tch about not winning the game by enough points.

When we suck next year, whats going to be the excuse?

BTW, I dont think we're going to suck next year, but I dont think we'll win more than 7-8 games,
so people are still going to beetch.

Some people on this site will complain with a 15-0 season and a National Championship. Either we don't win by enough or they disagree with the brand of eyeblack the receivers use.

Not sure how old you are, but you will learn not to take wins like this for granted. Most of us old times know that we took the very best shot they had to offer. In a rivalry game that really means something.

My high school team finished one year 2-8. our two wins were against bitter rivals #2 & #4 in the state, at the time.

We replaced both lines, had a killer schedule, had crucial injuries, had the captain of the team get suspended, and we are going to a bowl game. Tonight was ugly and we limped through the finish line, but what do you expect when you have backup guards playing tackle.

Give Butch some time.

They don't get it. Even if they do figure it out, they won't admit it.

I predicted 5-7 so this team has overachieved IMO, they fought through some adversity and got the job done. I think losing AJ and Crowder has almost crippled this team down the stretch but they found a way to get it done and that's all that matters. Dobbs will be fine with a healthy crop of receivers and I can't wait to see the duo of JH and AK next year should be exciting so buckle up and hang on.

I like that we won. Would've liked to have seen a much better performance versus and absolutely pathetic football team. Not sure why that's difficult to grasp.

Did you see that little Jr High white boy playing receiver? Wonder why he was in the line up? Did you see J. Johnson get blown up by 20 yards by their TE? Wonder why?

Frankly, with all of the injuries and suspensions which affected the heart of the offense and defense, I am surprised that we won any SEC games. For Vandy, of course Johnson was out, and that was a MAJOR issue for the D, and Hurd went out plus Howard was the only first team receiver available, so most of the skill players were out, not to mention Crowder on an already weak O-line. Jones has been saying all year that depth was a problem, and that has become clearly the case. I think the remaining players did very well, considering. Just think how well this team can be when they get some experience and can mostly stay healthy.

If somehow we can patch an oline together we win 10... That's all we need

We've got 7 potential losses next year. I dont know where you're getting 10 wins. Hell Florida could suit up Jeremy
Foley's housekeeper at QB and still beat us by 14.

Yeah I think we will be lucky to get to 7-8 wins. Going to be very tough to reach double digits with our schedule
