Hypothetical Situation...

I think Chaney needs to be fired. You credited Dooley for landing Thompson, so I stayed with your standard and credited Dooley for keeping Chaney. You're the one that needs to decide which one it is.

Even if we were to consider that Kiffin hired Chaney like he hired Thompson, Kiffin didn't have Chaney calling plays. Dooley does, and we scored 7 points against UK.

Chaney had a big influence on Lane's offense, but I can see your point. I forgot which SEC coach said it, but they said it was a little of Kiffin's West Coast mixed with Chaney's down the field passing attack. I give you the play calling aspect though. But if you want to go there, Thompson is coaching D-line here instead of LBs where Dooley got a stud recruiter and very good coach in Sirmon.

And I have absolutely no problem with that view. He will be here next year and the results will determine his fate. That is pretty much what I've said all along.

No, you informed me how stupid I was for considering that multiple members of the staff may leave. I was told I was an "attention whore" because I posed a hypothetical question in this thread. And I was told that it was an absolute certainty that these coaches would not leave, and now the same people you were using as sources all indicate the opposite. Then we got to see you tell us what Dave Hart thinks when you have no earthly idea what he thinks. So, no, that's not what you've been saying the whole time. That's about as truthful as saying that I have an agenda against Derek Dooley. In other words, it's a flat out lie.

I think he may leave for a DC job, and many others do as well. If he gets a HC offer, you can bet your ass he is gone.

I don't see Wilcox leaving for a DC position, if he was going to leave, then the Texas job last year would have been a very lucrative deal for him. If the rumors of the Texas offer were true. Has been said many times that it would take a special job for Wilcox to go, there will be offers, but would have to be a strong one for him to go. He will not leave for just any HC job, he would be dumb to do that.

I've never said it was an absolute certainty that the assistants would be here. The absolute was in reference to Dooley. Even in your hypothetical those sources you used believe Wilcox will be here next year. And I've been saying that next year determines Dooley's fate the whole time.

I think he'd only leave for a new DC job if it gives him a quicker route to being a HC. But that's just based on my impression that his goal is to become a HC as soon as possible. I thought the only HC job he was rumored to be in on was WSU?

On a side note, as Skeeter said, Thompson's departure could actually be a blessing in disguise. There's a certain guy on the west coast (Cal) that Wilcox would definitely push hard to get here. If so, we would've upgraded the position coach.

Yep. I would think so. Obviously, I don't have sources, but I'd be shocked if he wouldn't take it.

I think he could get a job like that next year even if DD was fired. If we were to win big next year or in the next few years he would be a very hot commodity. I don't think it would be smart to take a job like that this year IMO.

Good point.

I believe they are going nowhere, it's an opinion. Hubbs and Lewis think he may entertain offers but think he will be here as well. Absolute was still referring to Dooley where I said 0% chance he is not our coach in 2012.

Yeah I'm not so sure about that job. Wilcox could get much better jobs than that and could get much better jobs at DC to continue to build his resume if he decides to leave. I agree that it would give him something to think about, but usually young coordinators with the respect that people have for Wilcox do not go to the Bowling Green's of the world.

With the potential our defense has due to how they performed this year despite their youth, I would imagine he could only stand to benefit by waiting another year. Hell, he could be a candidate for the HC job here next year, who knows

And you just said you never said that. There's lie number 3 for the night.

Obviously you cannot read. I've never said that it was an absolute 100% chance that Wilcox and Sirmon would be here, I think they are going nowhere. It is a 100% chance Dooley will be here; therefore, that is an absolute. Just because Hubbs and Lewis think he is going nowhere, doesn't mean they are throwing that information as absolute. Heck, they aren't even sure that he would entertain offer they mentioned it as a possibility.

Yup. WR ND job. By the way, my point was you have to start somewhere.

Thanks. I think JW can get a job like that anytime. Even after next year if DD is fired. He could parley a big year here into an top 25-50 program type job in next year or so.
