How old were you...

that day is the day he became a St. Jude patient and we became very strong supporters of them as well.
He is cancer free.
What is really humbling is that as he has aged, he has became a summer camp counselor for children with cancer. He has experienced losing some of his camp children and friends to cancer.
here he is last year year with mom & dad....needless to say....very special...
Fantastic!

I was 17 and a Senior at Gatlinburg-Pittman. Was blessed to go to every home game that year to include Florida kick wide and the Arkansas stumble-n-fumble. It's crazy looking back now how I thought we'd always be on top and I didnt appreciate the times as much as I should when they were happening. Go Vols!!!! I miss you 90s!!! 😭

43 living in Memphis at that time and had graduated from the physical therapy school at the University of Tennessee at Memphis one month earlier. I was watching the game with friends who also were big UT fans. I will always remember Goodrich’s pic 6 and thinking OMG we might just win this thing. The party was on.

I was 52 and living about 10 minutes from San Bernardino, CA. 4 friends flew in from Knoxville and we drove over for the game. Fantastic week.

45 and loved every single minute of that year. I left parties, important meetings, family gatherings all to watch the games. I had just bought a new car and put two large power T decals in the rear windows. The kids were at the "embarrassed-with-Dad" stage of their lives and could not believe I would put those on a new Benz. I told them I had waited all my life for this moment and I was going to revel in it for the entire year, as I didn't know when I would get the chance to do it again. I had no idea I would be right about that part of it since then. Go Vols.

I literally was the last fan out of the stadium that night in Tempe. I didn't want to leave. The worst part about it was everything closed at 1.00 am.

I was 54 and at my favorite neighborhood bar. Packed house, all drunk. Watching the game on a tiny tv. One of the best days of my life.

I was 8. I don’t remember the game. All I remember is buying the Tostitos tortilla chip bags with the Tennessee Volunteer national champions on the front. I have a framed empty bag somewhere.

36 and living in Mexico Beach, FL. I had to listen to a bunch of Nole fans BS prior to that game. Funny thing, NOT A PEEP out of them after that game.
Good thing you aren't still living in Mexico Beach. I went through there last week on my way to our place at Cape San Blas. As I'm sure you know, it got blown up by Hurricane Michael. There isn't a lot there now.

22, watching at my med school apartment in Memphis with a bunch of good friends. We made our way to Fox & Hound to celebrate and found orange wax-dipped Makers cigars somewhere.

You guys are really young compared to me....I was 58...Was at the game...Can't describe what that was like...Was a little guy when Vols won the last one in the early 50's.....Next morn. we were to leave early on a Miami Air UT fan charter plane...Plane got up to about 1 or 2 thousand feet when we heard banging noises...They had left the baggage doors open...Had to dump fuel, make an emergency landing with helicopters and newsmen/women all over the place when we finally got down...Next morn. the Phoenix newspaper had a picture with people on the ground looking up at us thinking that the fuel was smoke and that the plane was on fire after news reports said that we were crashing....Friend who worked for FAA told me later that if the plane had climbed another 1,000 feet it would have disintegrated....Talk about only getting to enjoy the championship for less than 12 hours!!! There were 6 of us friends on the plane...Our preacher said, "I'm really glad you guys made it. I'd have had to hold funerals forever"...

I was 22 watching from home, yelling and jumping around the living room the entire game. To be honest, I do that for every game with a little cursing involved.

22, at O’Charley’s on the strip. I could go for a Taco Bell chili cheese burrito or Roadrunners Pizza right now.

when we won the championship in 98? Where were you?
Bored, and since we're waiting for our bowl game, I figured how about story time.
I was 13 and watched it with my dad, grandma, and little brother. My dad and I jumped up and down for joy. We we're on the edges of our seats the entire game. I remember Fulmer's and Tee's post game interview so vividly. I'll never forget that magical feeling. My does time go by so fast.
33 and watching with my dad just like the previous 27 years!

I'm old enough to be your father, but not your grandfather. That's a Christmas present. 😁

I was 45 and watching the game at the house of a work buddy in North Knoxville. He smoked a bunch of deer meat and his wife put it in a crock pot and made BBQ.....BBQ, french fries and George Dickel, not to mention the NC.... Good times!

I was 51 and at the game with my family of five. At the end of the game I leaned over to my 12 year old son and said remember this as it may not happen again in your life.

He flew in for game 7 of this year World Series and called me after the game and said he got to feel that feeling again.
