How long have you followed/been a Vol football fan ?

I was born in 1976 but didn’t get into football till I was older. I grew up in a family that didn’t watch sports. Started watching the Vols in 2007. Pretty bad timing huh 😂

Born in 69’ as well. I remember watching Condredge on The Color Orange and seeing Haschel Stanback. My first thought was, “I remember him”! Then they would always pause a few seconds on that special before they showed when a particular player played for the Vols. Suddenly under Haschel’s name the years 1971-1973 appeared. I guess you can say since I was 4! Find me a damn Bama “fan” in Tennessee that can say that!

Grew up in the northeast big redskin fan. My older brother got a job at ut. Brother sent me a lot of Tennessee gear. Got some comments wearing ut shirts and shorts. Moved to knoxville in 1981 first game Colorado State at the age of 13 hooked ever since.

My memories of Haskel Stanback was when he played for the Falcons from 1974-1979.

Born in 1974, went to classes there 1992 /1993 was at all home games from 1992 to 2002 and still try to go as often as possible. Bleed orange . Football, basketball men's and women's, baseball.

Born in 74 and made my first trip to Neyland in 1988 with a family friend. Was a fan since middle school and have bled orange ever since. Fondest memory was getting to go to the swamp in 01 when we beat Spurrier in his last game as a Gator but so so many especially beating them at home when we tore down the goalposts. Loudest that place has ever been.

1972 - I was 8 years old. Watched UT beat LSU in Astro - Blunebonnet Bowl - Condredge Holloway vs. Bert Jones

I was 12 in 1988. Went to my first game. Duke(and Spurrier) beat Tennessee. I was hooked. Suffered through that year and was repaid by getting to watch the 89 Vols dominate many teams. Went to the Cotton Bowl following that season. Tennessee and Arkansas put on a show.

Andy Kelly
Carl Pickens
Chuck Webb
Reggie Cobb
Thomas "TD" Woods
Alvin Harper
Anthony Morgan
Shazzon Bradley
Darryl Hardy
Earnest Fields

These were the names that helped cement my love of Tennessee...

Born ‘64
Some earliest memories include;
‘70 UT v. Bama @ Neyland, it was to be a big event, with dad having procured two end-zone seats for some of my parents friends, up from Huntsville. As we pulled onto campus, mom realized that she had left our 4 season tickets in the condo, so back down Chapman Hwy. to Gatlinburg, she and my sister went. No possible way my father was going to miss the kick, so the bama couple were odd folks out, as I sat with my father that day, in the green bleachers, and watched the Vols destroy the tide (24-0 as I recall). The Bear actually took his sports coat off, and layed down on the bench.
Other early memories include Condredge and those “tear aways”, what a great era to have witnessed. Additional lasting memories include the first night game in ‘72 v. Paterno, and lastly I vividly recall that The Pride always seemed to sound better than any opponents band (I guess we still have this at least).
I was also at the ‘70 UT v. Bama @ Neyland! It was my California wife's first ever Vols game and it was SO much fun watching Bill Battle's Vols beat the Bear!

I've been a Vol Fan since 1959 "third grade ", didn't get to go to a game until 1970 after I got married, but read the Knoxville News/Sentinel every day for their sports & listented on the radio. I would look inside the paper & if it didn't have a Vols article put my nickle back in my pocket & put the paper back on the counter. I was a paper carrier for the Kingsport Times/News in grade school & took some of my paper route wages to buy the Knoxville paper every day from the third grade & still read it now. I've been to several games every year since 1970 (except when I was in the Army) & even now as an old man the closer I get to Neyland Stadium the faster my heart pounds; Damn I love " Gameday with the Vols " !!! I never was real excited about the Pruitt hire, but was thrilled about the Majors hire & intend to give Pruitt the same respect that I gave Majors in his lean years (Yes, I sat in Neyland & watched Rutgers beat our Vols in the late 70's) "; What's a Rugters " ??? Go Vols, make me wrong about Pruitt & pull some upsets next year !!! Sorry about the long comment, but Hell, you asked !!!

As a little kid I remember seeing local news highlights of Holloway. LAter a few TV games of Jimmy Streeter, mostly listening to John Ward. Alan Cockrill, Reggie, the Mckenzie Brothers, those were the first teams that I got to see play live in Neyland. Been to many many games over the years, most memorable was the 86 Sugar bowl in New Orleans. Good lord the depths that this thing has fallen.

Hydrogen is the oldest element in the universe.
I'm not far behind.
I predate hydrogen. Been a fan since 69.
I sat through the heartbreaking game at Mississippi.....The Archie Who Game! All I could see was rebel flags since our tickets were in the Ole Miss student section. Glad to get out of Mississippi that day. Wish Kiner had not brought that up. Reynolds was a little upset after the game.

Born in1961, first visited Neyland with my Cub Scout troop. Saw UT Notre Dame JV game, Condredge Holloway made an electric head over heels dive into end zone. Hardcore ever since.
