His remark and attitude is correct and the whole team better be looking at it the same way...in some ways they resemble UK and we better be ready or we will be sitting red faced and complaining....Wright State is good and excited to prove themselves...and they figure they could not have gotten a better draw than Tennessee because they see us as very beatable....that is my take...

I fully expect Tennessee to come out flat in the first 15 or so minutes...but unless Wright State is making 7 of 7 3's or something insane it won't matter. Vols will settle in and take care of business.

I wouldn't say by any objective measure. NKU did win the regular season Horizon League championship

Okay I'll give you the regular league championship which means NKU will have the same vantage point I will for the NCAA Tourney...on the sofa :)

Pons is a disrupter. He is an excellent defender but not ready yet offensively. Fulkerson is starting to regain his old quickness and durability. The man hustles and should be a factor next season, I like Pons, Fulkerson and the other freshman big man - forgot name. Barnes can evaluate talent no doubt about it.

I agree about Fulkerson....Barnes said before the season he didn't expect him to be close until late January but I think its taken longer....actually you could tell in games where he was protecting his elbow/shoulder and couldn't commit on 50/50 plays especially...I think he's definitely getting closer...and next season should be back to 100% because when he is, his energy, defense, and bb IQ will definitely help this team....

It is taking him a while to get his arm strength back.
Strength wasn't great before it happened, but maybe he will improve it to go with his hustle and smarts.

I do feel like our guys have mostly gotten better later in the season, obviously including Bone and Schofield but also rotational guys like Fulk and Pons

Bowden has gotten worse. And Daniel seems to be turning it over more. I’m concerned about the latter. Given the defenses we face in our region, we can’t afford to turn it over.

Bowden should be told to only shoot unless he is wide open. He is on the court for defensive purposes only. Also, his passing needs work. I feel like when Daniel runs the point, he dribbles way too much. That a lot of times results in a trap and he turns it over.

Yeah, Bowden has gotten worse. I think Daniel is about equal, he’s been a little more careless with the ball but still decent with threes and slightly better at defense than the beginning of the year.

Watched some of Wright State's win over Cleveland State in the Horizon championship game. Wasn't overly impressed, but still think they may good enough to pull off the upset if Tennessee plays sloppy and lets them hang around for too long.

Ultimately think the Vols win this one by a comfortable margin. Tennessee 73 Wright State 59.

Matchup I am really worried about is in the second round game. I think Loyola beats Miami, and Loyola will challenge us on both ends of the floor. They have 5 guys averaging double figure scoring. They shoot over 50% from the floor as a team and nearly 40% from 3. 24th in defensive efficiency and beat Florida early in the season.

I agree. I'd rather play Miami

The big key vs Wright State will be to keep them off the offensive glass. Their halfcourt sets aren't impressive and they arent athletic enough to hurt us in transition offense, but they are statistically a very good rebounding team. Loudon Love averages nearly 4 offensive rebounds per game. Limiting Wright State's second chance opportunities will be the key to this game.

Good enough to whip us if we don't come to play....or block out when the game is on the line.

On the other hand, we are going to pummel them inside, and there will be nothing they can do about it.

I was checking ESPN's BPI and interesting that they have NKU at 76 and Wright State at 134.

RPI is totally different. They show WSU at 99 and NKU 114.

There's an enormous difference in regards to OK St. RPI has them at 88 and BPI at 58. That's the difference in making the field as an at large or being a borderline NIT pick. That's huge.

I think it's safe to say that the committee goes with RPI but the fact is these are both subjective metrics that utilize different algorithms.
