Harrison Bailey (merged)

Your memory is short. Hurd was hurting the team, throwing temper tantrums, people begging to get Kamara more involved. But hey, this university has never under estimated talent, right?
Hurd was not a problem until midway thru his junior year. After the problems started he wasn’t around very long.

Your post still has nothing to do with what Hurd did in the 2.5 years before that.

For the record hurd was a scrub compared to Kamara
For the record hurd was a scrub compared to Kamara
Hurd was a very valuable part of this offense as a rusher and receiver for 2.5 years. Kamara’s talents has nothing to do with Hurd’s talents. You keep trying to bring this comparison into play which has nothing to do with your posts questioning Hurd’s talent and production for UT.

Here's Bailey's stats broken down for you guys to mull over and decide if he's the savior or majority of his time was against a lower tier SEC East team.

The kid was a freshman. He played for one of the worse HCs in college football. He played for for an outdated OC. Where would he be this year if JP had played him all last year and given him a years' experience in the SEC?
He is more of a pocket passer and that does not meet JH's criteria for a mobile QB in his offense.

Meh I don't really have a comment about Bailey, I left early and didnt actually see him play. Sounds like he didnt play bad but definitely didnt play great. Thats fine. He will work it out. He is young. I did like most of what I saw from Hooker except the fumble. He is definitely a better qb than Milton. That said I hope whoever starts next week lights Gator ass up. Go Vols and I love our special teams and our defense is giving all they have. Still not a fan of the shotgun short yardage crap.

Not trying to trigger a millenial, Just speculation on why Bailey isn't a"fit" for Heupel's system. Btw, we all know why you try to get playmakers in space. I mean just look at how the spread works in the NFL..
oh ,that's right, no one runs it.

Right now I think hooker is our best option if he can stop being a fumble and interception machine. Bailey did not do that bad but you can tell he hasn't had the practice reps or game time. Spent the quarter he had with the second and third string so not much to work with. Still say I have seen all of milton I want to but I believe for time being hooker should start and Bailey should get more snaps in practice

Not only is Bailey slow, he plays wide-eyed, timid, and looking to others for support. He doesn't command that huddle. He might someday. Today is not yet that day. No swagger. Looks like Tinkerbell as he fairy steps into the end zone. He's third string for a good reason.
From what I see about the OL and any of the 3 QBs we have we are going to get beat like a drum by the gators. They, Ga, and Bama are in different leagues from us. I do have hopes that we may be able to hold our own against the rest of the schedule. We may get to that 6-6 record, but we better improve as the year goes on.

What I saw too. Borderline indifferent or sheepish. Doesn't seem like he has that winning desire, fire to compete.

They made plenty and moved the goal post like I knew they would.
Only seen a few that said yeah I see why he's qb3.
Didn't really see anything that made me think some power team would pick him up from the portal

Moving the goal post: "The receiver slowed down" on Bailey's huge overthrow. Like the guy would have caught Bailey's beautiful ball if he had only kept running. LOL. Bailey just ain't that good right now. VN fan boys of Bailey need to wake up. The other QBs need to grow, fair enough. But currently they are 1 and 2 ahead of Bailey at 3...and rightly so.

This also makes the point that Maurer really wasn't that good at all. Sure, he had some abilities. But he was #4 behind this crew. Clearly he isn't good enough to be a quarterback at UT when you consider all the tools needed for that job. Not even close, despite his own gaggle of fan boys on here.

He is a Freshman and should get better but one thing he’s not likely to improve is his arm strength. His arm is a wet noodle. Those lobs he’s throwing to the perimeter don’t give the WR a chance and they’re likely to get picked vs SEC defenders

I’ll be surprised if he ever starts in the SEC

His arm is too weak for a spread offense

That’s the part that makes the least amount of sense to me. Hurd wanted to play WR. People wanted to get Kamara more involved. Seems like an easy solution.

Idk if anyone remembers but people thought JG was gonna be great when he was a backup. It’s been a common theme on here for as long as I’ve been a member. Everyone always thinks the backup QB is gonna be great
My pops called for Brandon Stewart over Peyton back in the day. I still remind him of that one from time to time.

I mean let’s face it, we probably have the worst QB room besides Vandy in the SEC. I mean South Carolina’s QB looks much better than anyone we have.

There literally was not one game anyone can point to that was lost solely due to Hurd and Kamara's playing time ratio.......

Your comments are straw men and what you aren't getting is that it's not college football's job to get guys ready for the NFL. It's a college coaches job to win games and keep his job. Tim Tebow was an awful NFL quarterback, but he was great in college, and Urban didn't owe him anything to get him ready for the NFL. If that triggers you, I'm sorry the game has passed you by

No get to the core of the issues. Hurd wanted AK on the field and to have them both on the field together. Also Hurd was promised more I formation with FB/HB. Lying azz Butch was hurting the team. As I told a while ago I watched several guys dawg cuss Butch and talk about him lying to players and it eventually cost him his job. He was a habitual liar and self entitled jerk
