Get Behind JG

Crazy how many are rooting for this kid to fail
I don't think anybody is rooting for him to fail. I think people are just tired of his mental mistakes and his lack of football knowledge when he has played as much as he has. If he turned it on and became a great quarterback believe me we all would love it. What we don't understand is people that want to stick by a guy that's obviously not getting it done.

Let's face it, JG proved he is a Super Star today, yes sir! For all those doubters (I was one) that just didn't think he has what it takes to QB an SEC team, wow were we wrong. I'm expecting an A** Kicking against FL-look out. His after the game interview was stunning-he knows he has what it takes, I'm smelling a NATY!!! At the very least-SEC Champions. I haven't seen it discussed yet, is everyone already planning on traveling-bowl game in our future.
Thanks to CP and JG, they have us on the fast track to National Prominence!
You serious Clark?

Another simple minded view. There are 6 or 7 programs where he would have been their highest rated QB recruit ever. Had he went to several SEC schools as a Freshman he would most definitely be the starting QB for them and its ridiculous to think he would not.
You have a right to your opinion, as do I. We'll see at the end of the year where he ends up on the draft board. Those guys are the experts, if hes as good as you guys claim, surely he'll be top 10, right?

I'm not claiming him to be good, that's not the argument. Would he play for other SEC schools is the ? Most of those guys at other schools would not have even been recruited by their schools had JG been on their roster as a Fr.

How could I judge Brian's play.....they let him run the ball lol............let the kid sling it.....I can tell you he willed himself a TD....coaches or not....This kid could put the team on his shoulders and carry them...his play can pick the team up to the next level....
In all these games I have not seen JG do that.....
Yeah I would have sit JG and started playing BM at that point...JG doesn't have that chemistry....he's just not a pick me up.....

I think Mauer has the "it" factor. He's a baller. But my read of his performance is that he had no idea what was going on and wasn't ready to do what you need to do to win big games. But he had the enthusiasm, energy and heart. Which matters. But isn't enough.

No he is not our QB. He will get ate alive next week and this board will hate him again.
And many more games to come.
People are praising the play when the first pass should have been intercepted and basically every drive he was given a short field by our special teams and defense. Completing 7-8 passes against one of the worst teams in college football is hardly an indicator of progress. I can't wait to see who some blame going forward. All it is going to take is one big hit from a Florida defensive player and we will all see what we have seen for the 3rd year now.

He was playing with 3rd and 4th string players and was given no real opportunity to do anything other than hand the ball off. There is simply no way to draw any conclusion on what he could do if given a real opportunity.

Maybe I slept through the game and didn't notice Maurer being relegated to handing the ball off to 4th and 5th string running backs but how did you come to the conclusion that JG is the best and that "we all saw that"? What I saw is Maurer being used to hand the ball off or run with mostly backup rotation players and no real opportunity to throw the ball with first team players.

Damn near impossible to get a true evaluation of a player when the coaching staff limits that player to running plays.

I think coaches call plays they are confident a QB can do well. Is Chaney an idiot? I don't think so. And the evidence is his success at Tennessee (2012), at Arkansas, at Pitt (he made freaking Peterman draftable!), and at Georgia.

I'm also basing this on Erik Ainge's comments - who has access to practice reps that the media doesn't, btw. Ainge is HIGHLY critical of JG's decision-making in games (says there are 3 to 8 "game-changing" decisions he has made this year, each game), but INSISTS that if you saw what he saw in practice and scrimmages YOU WOULD HAVE NO DOUBT that JG is the best we got.

And I'm saying that what we saw today from both Shrout and Mauer did NOTHING to challenge these things

You can keep saying that JG sucks. Maybe he does.

My point is... who are you gonna put in instead of him?
And if he's the best we got - which seems a reasonable conclusion from what we know - why not support the kid?

This is just a guess, but it looks to me as though JG needs to sit down and think about how it was as a younger guy when playing QB for a team was fun. Seems like he is so serious, worrying incessantly about mechanics, Manning passing academy, off season gurus, etc, etc, that he has lost what it's like to have fun while playing. His desire to be the best seems to have sucked all of the enjoyment from just playing. He needs to loosen up a bit and let it fly--he has plenty of natural athletic ability.
I think you could be on to something. He appears to be too worried about throwing a bad pass or a pic.

They said during the game that him and trey were roommates at one point and Trey would be like “chill bro it ain’t that serious” JG has some serious anxiety about his job..

It has nothing to do with supporting the kid. I have supported the team for damn near 50 years, have been a season ticket holder since the Bill Battle years and want nothing more than for our team to win. If I had a starter that only had 2 conference wins going into their 4th year of being on the team I would have probably gone out and got the best juco qb in the country I could find to give me a chance. I have prayed JG would develop but he simply hasn't. He can't see the left side of the field at all. I will give credit to Chaney today for calling passing plays that forced him to turn to the left to throw to his primary WR. Even then he was locked on and anyone who knows anything about the game knew exactly where he was going with the ball. SEC teams will adjust and bring more pressure from the right side if they attempt that in SEC play.

What does Pruitt do next season if we continue to fail this year? Start a 5th year RS Senior or go with the true freshman coming in? If he goes with the freshman you can all but guarantee Maurer and Shrout transfer and where do you go if the freshman gets hurt? If JG isn't going to start I almost guarantee you he goes back home and transfers as a grad to Rutgers in hopes of starting there for a year. Do you lose doing the same thing over and over or at least attempt to build for the future and improve those who are going to be around 3-4 more seasons or go with the "I hope we can win a few games" player? If we lose to Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama over the next month and a half do you stick with the player who is supposedly your best option or do you try something else? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

I wouldn't call BYU a crap team they did beat #24 ranked USC. Regardless what you think of USC that double over time loss to BYU is actually helping us the only loss that truly looks bad is the first one

USC had an inexperienced freshman QB. And that loss helps us? Are you deranged? It's a loss to a group of 5 team. If we had beaten their sorry butts, THEN it would have "helped" us somehow. This fanbase needs an enema, and you are exhibit number 694 as evidence to prove it.

He's going to be a 4 year starter in the SEC for one of the highest profile programs in the country, he's definitely an SEC worthy QB.
That just speaks volumes of how far UT has fallen in regards to talent.

Hes gone after this year regardless.

Second ranked SEC QB preseason. Beat a couple ranked SEC teams. Completed 60% plus vs SEC teams with the lowest int rate.

"pRObaBlY nOt aN sEC qB"
C_ZPSddXcAApQ9T
Lol..preseason rank which went up in smoke.

Beat Auburn and Kentucky. 2 SEC wins in 3 years..

Below .500 as a starter.

Throws as many TDs in his career that a good QB throws in a season.

Hes terrible.
