'20 GA ATH Arik Gilbert (LSU commit)

Ridiculous to think GA would all of a sudden not want him because he said he doesn't want to block.
Everybody wants him, I just don't think that (sour grapes) is where it's coming from in this particular instance. The regulars on the UGA boards have been writing off Gilbert for weeks saying he was going elsewhere. If AV is right and DW comes here however, then we will see some major sour grapes from UGA fans. Right now they think they are getting Washington AND Theo Johnson so they aren't real butthurt about Gilbert. I've actually seen several comment that they'd rather he come here than Bama.

Thinking they are getting the other two would make them think not getting a 5 star of this caliber is okay. Saying it is okay because he doesn't want to block is ridiculous. No have to coach is going to tell him he doesn't have to block, and he would have to be an idiot to believe that he won't to. But every play he does not block on the rest of the year will now be posted on here to prove GA is right.

I think you are going to always get that knock though when you find someone nearly universally projected as a TE wanting to switch to WR "oh, he must not want to block". That criticism sort of flows organically from the position change, not that it's true.

Probably has more to do with the contracts different positions can get in the NFL. And positional longevity.

IDT Gilbert likes the way the UGA offense uses TEs. He wants to be a WR and doesn't seem to be onboard with the way he thinks UGA would use him in their offense. Sounds to me like he wants to watch some games and see if what he's hearing from the coaches matches what he sees on the field. Then he'll weigh what he was told and what he believes and make his decision. I wouldn't count UT out. I think we're very much in it.

With TN, AL, and GA all having new OCs, he should wait to see.

Bama is already at 23 commits. They had 27 last year so 23 is it for them. Who are they going to cut to get more players if they supposedly lead for Gilbert
You sure they only get 23? They were supposed to have 2 extra somehow last year.
