Florida game confidence

Therefore

Honest Judas = Battered Vol Syndrome

Makes sense. It's a common affliction in our great big community, these days. JRM, Cam, and Alvin turned down the NFL to deliver the first dose of the cure.

Go Vols!

I was joking. I know who Larry is. That being said a poster nailed it last year when they said, " I have the utmost confidence we beat Florida every year, until we find a way to lose."

That's how I live. We're going to win this year and I will have to see us lose to believe it.

GBO!

If we win it will be 100% due to our defense. I believe Shoop will blitz the heck out of them, put Cam and Martin on islands out there. Officials won't throw flags for WRs pushing off so they will have to play physical. Cam can't give a 7 yd cushion like he was last year. If this comes down to Medley hitting a game winner, I think we lose. If it comes down to UF having to drive the field at the end to win it ,I think we lose. If it comes down to Dobbs having to put together a 2 min drill for a TD to win, I think we lose. Only way I see is winning is if we have a 17 point lead late in the 4th. UF will recover an onside kick, converts a 4th down, and get a long TD. We just need enough of a lead so when that happens and the "here we go again" mindset kicks in, we'll be able to outlast them. Oh and Butch, maybe try going for it on 4th and 1 once when you aren't trailing.

You know how we always win?

Actually, it could be argued that you can...over the years lots of games have been lost on the last play of the game, with the 2015 Michigan loss to Michigan State on a botched punt coming to mind as an example.

So there were no other mistakes or bad plays by Michigan in the entire game?

Fantasticly Good Post!

This is an interesting debate with good points made on both sides. Fans tend to let 1 play stick out that swayed the outcome of the game.

Last night I was watching Catching Hell about the "Steve Bartman" incident. I know several people in Chicago...to this day blame that loss on him. That's crazy! 10 people were reaching for the ball and none of them were looking at Moises Alou. There was a whole comedy of errors that happened during that half inning. But fans need an enemy.

Look back at the '00 UF game and "The Catch". That play didn't lose the game for the Vols. The game was lost leading up to that moment...even though UF could have kicked a FG and sent it overtime had it not been ruled a catch.

UT could have picked up the 1st down on the previous drive. Game over.

UT could have stopped UF after Leaverton pinned them deep after the punt when Henry didn't pick up the 1st down.

But it's easy to blame the refs which is somewhat understandable in a last minute scenario.

I wish I could find a replay. I swear there was motion by a running back that was so obvious, but I can not find the play.

That's not what he said, that's not the argument.

Thank you, KBVol.

I guess the notion that Michigan was leading prior to the last play of the game, and that the next play, the botched kit, changed the outcome of the game is just too SIMPLE a concept for some to WANT to grasp.

There must be this need on the part of some to make it more philosophical...maybe something about the "totality of the game".

This is the year, bet the house! I am very confident about the game this year, hopefully I'll get to see it live in Knoxville. Next year, the match-up will much closer... if not this year, maybe never.

Not that it means anything BUT the last time we had an 11 game losing streak to anyone... it lead to one of the greatest victories in Tennessee history

Oct 16, 1982

Alabama 28
Tennessee 35

Nobody...and I mean NOBODY beats Tennessee 12 times in a row!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was my facebook profile pic for a very long time. Might have to bring it back. I also have about a 2" piece of one of the goalposts that left the field that day

Why not blame the play that didn't yield the first down for Michigan before the punt? Honestly, because even with that play counted into the totality of results and outcomes of the game to that point, Michigan still had the lead and was going to win the game...........until the last dreadful, inexplicable play of the game happened, which changed the course, the results and the eventual outcome of the game in its totality.

So now it's two plays that cost them the game? The lack of the first down and THEN the blocked punt? One play will lose a game but one play is not why Michigan lost. Michigan lost because collectively to that point in the game they had an insufficient lead to cover a one play mistake. In other words, they never should have been in that position. In the OK game last year, one play cost us the game, but we should never have been in that position. Had we executed even a single first down more than we did in the final quarter and a half, we would have won. The one PI play lead to the loss, but it wasn't why we lost.
