Finebaum roasts CJP for post-game comment

I'd you look at the game holistically, phases, not giving up etc, he's right. The fight is there. They just have to work that much harder and believe that you get out what you put in. This team needs to find leadership that will push them to greatness. This Sr class are Butches boys and are soft like Charmin.
Then why has Pruitt kept them and keeps playing them?

Butch's players is the laziest excuse out there, the day Pruitt renewed their schollys they became Pruitt's players.
Isn't that what Pruitt was hired for?

Never understood that BS excuse either.
Three years with Pruitt!
Pruitt accepted this job and all that come with it.
It’s on Pruitt if they are not up to his standards....

Until I can find an improvement. The last 15 years has proven UT can't do that and only gets worse each time. We fire a coach, do a search, get turned down 5 times, and end up begging someone to have us (and pay them big $$$ to do so). We aren't even done paying Butch yet, and with absolutely no plan, we already want to fire JP. Unless Urban Meyer or his equivalent falls in our lap, JP gets 5 years minimum. Any idiot can see that.

So, you keep an unproductive employee until you can find improvement, then let him go? That doesn't seem counterintuitive to you?

*ETA: Or do you mean until you can find a better employee? Not clear what you mean.

I saw no fight against UK. They gave up.

This is our biggest problem. We DO NOT pay the big bucks to get a real coach. We try to cheap out. That's why we have gotten three no-name coaches in a row. Nobody will accept 5 or 6 million to coach at UT. You gotta grow up and pay for a good coach.

Yes, let's say I have a car repair shop. I have a manager/technician and he's just not great. Do I fire him and hope I can find a decent replacement when I'm desperate (eventually taking anyone that can pass a drug test)? Or do I put out some feelers and do my research ... find one of the best techs in town and offer him a better deal? And only then, I fire the underperformer.

Which way sounds better, and which way have we been doing it?

Know you're all Finebaum fans. Aa long as the negative comments that for your narrative are said, it doesn't matter who they come from apparently. I thought Finebaum was a UT grad who turned on is and is in bed with Bama and Saban. Guess the narrative is more important.
He is and I couldn’t care less what he says! Am I upset with Pruitt and this program, yes!
Do I care what Pawwl says, NO!
Why would we get upset about him saying something we already know?
GBO!!

This is half of it! The other half is
Real coaches with names, a lot of them are quirky, a holes, have some historical baggage, arrogant or all of the above and some would come here, but unlike every other SEC school UT won’t except them.

If you read the comments in the SDS article, there were some actually really good comments from rivals. Everybody sees what is going on with UT and they are not wrong. A) still need more talent. B) need more coaching, maturity and time and C) need a new QB.

They may be but Pruitt says Butches qb is the best we have, and Pruitt has 3 yrs of qb recruits on the roster. And jg may not be a good qb, but you can't say he is soft though, he is tough as nails. With that said jg needs to be replaced like last year.

Callaway, Tuttle, Moseley, Coleman are 4 of those and they all started in the NFL yesterday. There are others who are getting some P/T. I didn't like Butch after year 3, but his year 3 was far and away better than Pruitt's year 3. Butch faced the same type of rebuild that Pruitt faced. I'm tired of the excuses for Pruitt. IMO, he isn't HC material

If your rivals want you to keep your coach then you know it’s time to fire him.

I'm with you. Just wasnt sure what you meant from the wording. IDK how anyone looking for a CEO/HC to run a 100 mill organization like major college football doesn't see a better way than what we've done.

Fine baum will call out Tennessee failures quicker than any of the homer media will, the local media was right there and could have followed up requesting clarification after a non competitive performance against Alabama, Coach Aight isn't Trump, you can ask Pruitt hard questions and not fear getting yelled at or thrown out of the presser, sports journalists need to ask the hard questions, not the silly questions

That is a reasonable summary.

Finebaum just piling on and following whichever the way the wind blows on any given week. That being said.....don't disagree with him here.

From about 6 months ago

“He’s getting players that Tennessee has not gotten in a long time so he’s learned from others, especially his old boss in Tuscaloosa,” Finebaum said. “I think he feels and senses the momentum, so he’s playing to it and no matter how you slice it, Jeremy Pruitt’s recruiting has been the story of this spring. And the reason why I’m convinced that Tennessee is on the cusp of returning to power is I am hearing criticism from other schools, competing schools – from rivals, that he’s not doing that great.
Windvane or windbag - Finebaum is a bit of both.

If you’re here trying to “flip” someone against Coach Pruitt I’m guessing quoting Paul Finebaum IS NOT the way to do it😂😂😂. SMH
