Finals thread.

Watching chuck gush over lebron on pti right now... Said that by the time he's done, lebron v Jordan will be a legitimate debate.

Lebron first player ever to go 600 points, 200 boards, 100 assists in the playoffs. Pretty effing great.

LeBron has three things that can help him here:

A) He's 27.

B) In today's day and age, if he can keep his legs healthy, with all the kind of health stuff we have today, he can play good till he's 39. Look at Steve Nash.

C) The first one is always the hardest. He just needs one to get over the hump.

Very different players. I don't see Lebron ever being on Jordan's level and I'm a fan.

Lebron will go down as a different kind of greatest ever, IMO.

LeBron is a better player now than Jordan was at his age, and has a wider range of basketball skills than anybody in history. He's the same age that Jordan was when he won his first title. People forget now, but Jordan was regarded as kind of a sideshow character who wasn't enough of a team player to ever win a championship for the first six years of his career, kind of like a rich man's Dominique Wilkens. There's no telling how LeBron's career's going to go.

Not sure how much longer Wade can play at this level, that may hamper their chances of winning multiple titles.

Then again it appears James has figured out what he has to do to be a champion, so perhaps he won't require Wade to be such a vital cog.

It helps that there is so few formidable teams right now.

James is not going to get a fistful of titles without getting more complimentary players around him, that's for sure.

It would be really interesting to see him play with a legitimate point guard for the first time.

Steve Nash has openly expressed interest in joining the Heat.

That would be interesting.

The Heat need a true point, but they also need a valid three-point threat. If they cannot stretch the defense, then a true point guard is not going to make a whole lot of difference. Since they are not going to get rid of Wade anytime soon, I almost think they would be best served by just turning Wade into a point guard and moving Chalmers to the 2. Wade does best when he penetrates, anyway; Chalmers does best if he can spot up.

Nash just seems like he would slow the Heat down and allow defenses to simply pack the paint (Battier getting hot from the outside has been a god-send for the Heat this postseason; as was Bosh's three-point shooting against the Celtics...but, neither of those guys are going to present a consistent three-point threat down the road).

Nash is far and away my favorite player so this would be a dream come true for me!

I really wish the Heat would get him and somehow get Gortat as well. He's actually a pretty good center and that's all they need on the Heat.

Chalmers ain't going anywhere without being included in a trade.

Cole could develop into a pretty good point guard.

Shooters are more important, IMO as well.

Chris Bosh gets dogged too much because he's not as great as James or Wade. He's made a huge impact for the Heat since he got back on the floor.

Agree with all 3. Which is exactly why they need Nash! I know his point totals are down... but he just had his highest shooting percentage last year of his career. Having Lebron and Wade going to rim will only open up his 3 pt shooting as well.

Then you throw in the fact that he doesn't care how how many points he has and he's the perfect fit imo. He would be more than happy setting up Lebron as long as he gets that shiny ring at the end of the season.

-Lebron is a tremendous athlete and ball player but has no midrange game and very little post up game, so saying he has a wider range of skills than anybody in history is a Stretch Armstrong stretch. He's a huge, strong, and fast athlete with great hands, anticipation, and feel that can finish at the rim as well as anyone ever has

-there was never a time where I heard MJ described as a rich man's Dominique and a sideshow character

Overblown. He does. It's not where it needs to be, but it's still pretty good. Watch game 4. His post up game was fantastic.

I've read about it. Everyone thought he was a selfish ballhog who only cared about his numbers.

Fans across the world didn't care if MJ was a ball hog, and people didn't root against him as they do lebron. I saw it. I don't have to read about it. And maybe lebron can hit a midrange shot, but he doesn't take them often. He doesn't really have to. But its still a steady skill he hasn't shown. And his post up game could be ridiculous, but its still limited. I expect it to improve with age.
Back to the point that he can't be considered the most skilled player ever if he lacks in those two areas of basketball skill.
