Finals thread.

Fans across the world didn't care if MJ was a ball hog, and people didn't root against him as they do lebron. I saw it. I don't have to read about it. And maybe lebron can hit a midrange shot, but he doesn't take them often. He doesn't really have to. But its still a steady skill he hasn't shown. And his post up game could be ridiculous, but its still limited. I expect it to improve with age.
Back to the point that he can't be considered the most skilled player ever if he lacks in those two areas of basketball skill.

I don't know about fans, who always loved the guy, but the serious basketball-fan knock on Jordan for years was that he was a do-too-much guy with incredible skills but who would probably never mesh with a team well enough to win championships. If you were old enough to see it then, then you've forgotten it amongst all the subsequent mythology. The biggest difference between the early part of Jordan's career and LeBron's up until now is that the first part of Jordan's took place when ESPN was still regularly showing Australian rules football.

Overblown. He does. It's not where it needs to be, but it's still pretty good. Watch game 4. His post up game was fantastic.

I've read about it. Everyone thought he was a selfish ballhog who only cared about his numbers.

Jordan didn't have much of a jumpshot at LeBron's age. that came later.

I don't know that LeBron has the personality to work on his jump shot like Jordan did, but at this age Jordan couldn't really shoot that well either.

People have totally forgotten that Michael Jordan didn't just spring out of Zeus's forehead like Athena, fully formed and a complete champion. It was a journey for him to get to that level. He took a massive step in 90-91. LeBron is taking one now. No telling where it will end up, but it's a huge step in the process.

Agreed. Athletic and skilled are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Your perception of it is yours, and others may differ. I was playing HS ball at the time of the early Jordan years and nobody in Memphis gave a flip about him being a "ball hog" or not. I realize he had detractors and was labeled. They all do. But a lot of people didn't care.

I'm not wrong about Lebron's post up game. It has plenty of room for improvement.

Congrats to him. Outside of one or two instances, I've always thought he has acted like a man since he came into the league.
