Fifa 12

Who doesn't play with Barca?

Sheesh.

On an unrelated note, I found myself enjoying the game a whole lot more with the Spanish commentary. I have no idea what they're saying, and it seems like half the names aren't loaded in, but it's fantastic.

Believe it or not I have noticed more people playing with Chelsea and BM since the CLF. Bunch of bandwagoners. I play with Barca only because of Messi. If he were to go to another club I would play with them. But the one thing I hate is that even if a defender so much as touches him he goes down which is bullcrap imo jmo

SN:1000th post on VN. Whoohooo. Do I get a John Brown sized cookie

A Barca player going down at the slightest touch is pretty realistic IMO. :)

Pshhh. Man I feel bad for yall. I was going for BM in that game. Felt so bad for Schweinsteiger. You guys let that game slip tho.

Was kidding about Messi. Have a lot of respect for him, even though Barca isn't my favorite team.

We did let it slip. I don't blame Schweinsteiger at all, the guy is a winner. Blame goes on Gomez, who missed multiple opportunities, and Robben, who I just don't like. Lol

Finally got my copy back from a friend, I really enjoy this game. Mostly play def online, I'm not very skilled, just try and stay in position.

Picked up this game a few weeks ago because of this thread. Thought it was alright, but got a little tired of it. Then I started playing online.

Consider me addicted.

Worth it. Although I've learned I'm worse at video game soccer than I am at real-life soccer, a truth I thought could never be possible.

Play more. The learning curve is really steep, I've still only played a couple games online; I didn't get the game until around February or March and I still get my ass kicked by the CPU on Professional difficulty every few games.

Getting owned in online play. Anyone got any tips for me?

Stay patient and wait for your opponent to make a mistake. Only worry about defending hard in your defensive 3rd. Hold RB/R1 and swith with the Right stick to a player behind you and take away passing lanes. When you have the ball, Keep it. Dont be afraid to play it backwards. Quick 1-2 passing with a through ball will work in lower divisions. Jesus Volball, i feel like a soccer nerd. Thanks bro

Agreed on not being tepid about playing it backwards. That's something I don't see nearly enough of. If you actually watch soccer, it's done all the time.

I have the best luck on D waiting for somebody to not put enough hot sauce on a short pass, just have to have somebody in place to cut it off. D should play tight but not too tight.

Of course, scoring goals is really the hard part. Every formation is suited to different styles. My favorite way to get the ball in the box is play it out to the wing from a 4-4-2, then run a sort of soccer "triangle offense." For whatever reason it's really hard to work through balls, unless you have one of the fastest 5 or so players in the game, you'll almost always get run down unless you tinker with sliders. Crosses aren't as hard to work as some people make them out to be, just get used to the different crosses; tap square(x?) once for a far post cross, twice for a near post and three times for a ground cross and it goes without saying having a target that's 6'0" or taller should be used here.

What kind of teams are you up against? Dunivant is an alright defender, but if you're playing any 4-5 star teams, you're probably going to get killed no matter what

Generally speaking, goals happen because people go all Leeroy Jenkins and try and press to much, try to actively make a play on the ball, and that's usually when bad things happen, either a foul, yellow, or worse clearing a lane to the striker or giving up a pk. That's almost always a bad idea unless you're playing Lahm against a chump or whatever.

Be patient, stay in shape and most importantly always keep a body between whoever has the ball and the striker. That will cause the offense to either hold on to the ball too long, pass too much or take a desperate shot.
