Fifa 12

It's the only game year-to-year that I can play from the day it comes out until the next one is released. I hated the demo this year but bought it anyway and ended up loving it. It makes last year's game absolutely unplayable.

IMO, best video sports series ever made and 12 is the best yet

I am split between these two. I played Fifa religiously before i got the show 12, and it has been hard for me to play anything else than that since I got it. Maybe its just because I have been playing fifa for years and have never owned a baseball game till this one.

FIFA kills though and is a lot of fun and well made. I absolutely hate the real game of soccer, but love the video game version of the sport.

whats the best game mode in this game? i couldn't really get a good feel for the manager mode

To me it's manager mode. Others may enjoy the be a pro mode or whatever it's called, but I just can't stand spending 90% of the game running around off the ball. I'd rather control the whole team.

You can still opt to control the whole team in pro mode, though if your guy spends too much time out of position, his match rating will drop and there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

As great as the game is, manager AI can be a real head-scratcher at times.

Just noticed the UEFA tab on the main menu.

So far what I've been hearing is that's is a decent add-on but probably not worth the $26.

I went ahead and downloaded it. It's actually pretty fun, especially the expedition mode. However, the expedition is kind of frustrating at the first, because you have to win a game in order to build a road to face another team, but if you lose your next game you also lose the road and have to start over from scratch. Once you win a few games and get some stuff unlocked, things start to open up a bit more, but the beginning is VERY frustrating.

Anyone have an ultimate team? How do you keep up with gold player contracts?!

so I've been dominating on semi pro and decided to bump up the difficulty.

wow.

Ridiculous jump from semi to professional. Getting mah a$$ handed to me on the regular.

Any tips on getting better?

I've been more patient and trying working to ball around on the attack, but it always breaks down. I'm lucky if I get off 3 shots in an entire match =(

Check on YouTube for some tutorials and hints particularly on crossing and attacking in general.

I play on professional all the time and usually win unless I'm just totally outclassed by the opposition. I started with a team in the 4th tier in the English system and over the course of 4 years have now played my way up to the Championship. I almost always get destroyed by the EPL teams if I run up against them in the FA or League Cup, but so far in my first season in the second tier, I'm mid-table about halfway through the season.

Another thing to keep in mind on the higher skill levels is to make sure you keep your CB's firmly in their designated position. Don't manually run them out in an effort to steal the ball. The CPU can be pretty ruthless at converting its chances, so keep them in their to head out crosses and such. My experience on professional is that the CPU is going to convert on average at least 50% of the shots you let it take, so diligent defending is key, especially till you get a better handle on the attacking side of things.

In that same logic, the CPU can't score when it doesn't have the ball, so don't be ashamed to just pass it around sometimes, holding possession until something opens up. 1-2 passes are your friend when it comes to creating space, and work on mastering the art of the fake shot/fake cross to get a clearer sight of goal or space to cross. Otherwise, you'll see that the CPU blocks A LOT of your attempts.

Still trying to get a handle on running the offense through the middle against an offside trap. I can manage it if I'm running a christmas tree, but then I'm pretty much guaranteed to concede a goal with that formation.

I've been having issues with my internet connection, on the router side I think. I get signed out all the time but the PS3 is plugged directly into the router. I'll get back at you when I get it figured out
