Fan Behavior

I am a UT grad and former season ticket holder that happened to be sitting in the Florida section of Neyland Stadium about 20 years ago. A car license plate thrown from the UT student section flew past my wife's head like a frisbee. It struck a Florida fan and cut a nasty gash in her arm. Could have been lethal if it struck her neck or head. I understand that the "crazies" are everywhere, but it is less life-threatening to watch Vols football from the safer confines of my living room.

lol, I'm so tired of this being an acceptable excuse to some people. There's no excuse to being an ***hole. I was in college and didn't act like a total jackass.
Yea I missed where being a college kid earned you the right to act like a jackass. If anything thats more of a reason to boot them. Teach them actions have consequences!

I believe (and have seen) idiot fans from every fan base, some worse than others. Hell, some of my fellow UGA fans can be some of the most obnoxious dbags of all. My old man and I have been to almost all SEC stadiums for games when UGA plays away (need to get to A&M and Miss St.). I've had a good experience both times I've been to Neyland as a rival fan, so thank y'all for that. It's a great place to spend a Saturday and damn that place is loud lol. The only fan base I've had consistent issues with UF and GT.

I was at the game and I really don’t think most of the fans being thrown were at ETSU. The student section were being idiots yes and just throwing them for the sake of throwing them. As far as people being rude to ETSU fans. I was around many and never saw it. I saw several ETSU fans who weren’t capable of handling their alcohol though. There are idiots for every fan base.

Y’all have been choke artists for so long we never saw y’all as a threat.

Kirby seems to be able to get the most out of your players, combine that with our nose dive and we might have to reconsider y’all as a threat and treat you that way.

I’m sorry but UT is nothing like going to a UGA game. Everyone knows not to go to Sanford. You guys are historically bad hosts. We’d like it if we didn’t get that reputation and for it to stay that way.

I disagree completely. I've been to a game there and had a great experience.

I do, however, agree with the Dog's post. Most fans in every fanbase are pleasant, but you have that 5% element in every fan base that tries to ruin it for everybody. Trust me, we have our share, too, and I have witnessed it first hand.

ETSU was one of the games to take your family to. Other than DTU, The chumps, The gumps, all burn(The other west game.) and an occasional OOC game the rest will turn into family games over the next few years.

But it is college ball with college students, no need to get bent out of shape when college students get drunk and get out of line.

Who couldn’t get into a brawl with rabbit ears and thin skin? Not saying I agree with or endorse, but come on.

I’d rather my kids learn foul language from the stadium than me(I know there are many that have never drank, cussed or smoked and are wonderful role models to all children. So, what is your sin?)

I agree! The sad part about it.. I bet a LARGE portion of the ETSU players are Tennessee fans!

The push now is the selling of alcohol at the games.

And if they get it, what do want to bet that the next move will be to crack down on open containers outside the stadium? I guess they figure if they are going to have to deal with a bunch of drunks in the stadium, they should at least make some money off selling the booze.

Just wait until.we bring alcohol. INTO the stadium. I am sure that will make things a whole lot better in the student section.

BTW.....if you think the crazies in the student section are bad now, just give the SJW faculty a few more years to continue to indoctrinate these impressionable youth. if we are not careful, we could become the next Missouri.

A very good friend of mine attended the game Saturday in his role as a sportscaster for ETSU sports. He relayed to me, knowing of my ties and love for UT, how appalled he was at the behavior of several of the fans behind the ETSU bench and visitors sections. He stated that objects were thrown onto the field at players coaches and verbal assaults were hurled against fans of ETSU even including small children. My concern is that while I expect that sort of behavior from Florida or Bama fans, I would never want to be lumped into that group. I have witnessed this type of behavior from some of our fans in the past but usually someone with pride in our school and fanbase steps up and stops or at least mitigates the abhorrent behavior. There is absolutely no acceptable reason for this type of behavior at any time much less when we are playing a lesser talented and reborn program early in it's infancy.
And the majority of our fans want to sell beer to these assholes. Makes you wonder whether or not humans are advanced over the monkeys.
