Estrella to UM

They overpaid for an average player.
Maybe this great thing called NIL is paying $3M next year for average players. It’s not the colleges money. Boosters and fans pay for it. Miss out on a kid, no bIg deal. Just try again next year. Somehow fans don’t actually realize it costs the university nothing more than the scholarship they have always given to players.

Wow, Estrella signing with Michigan…now we are about to see how Michigan develops Estrella even better
This could either be the worst or best thing for Barnes. If Estrella blossoms and Michigan builds another super team, it’s not going to be a good look. Most of the Michigan guys were experienced, but hadn’t lived up to potential. Until…….
May is a hell of a coach.

If Estrella is same or marginally better then that’s a huge win for Barnes.

Whether or not Estrella does well at Michigan has no bearing on Rick Barnes and what he’s done here.

That’s silly talk.

He didn’t get $3 mil 😆.

Paid more than tn offered but not 3 mil.

To even get remotely close to that kind of value you have to hope he makes it through the season healthy, which is already a coin flip.
AND, if he's in a system that can get him open 3s and he can hit 35+%, he would be worth it.

Foot issues and averages 18 minutes a game and liability with defense let him go. He is a good player but not great.
I think he will be a really good player next season. He was limited in minutes because we were deep in the front line with 4 bigs and Ament playing the 3 some. It'll be interesting to see if he puts up 4 or more 3pt. shots per game. If he can hit a decent %, it will open up the lane for rest of the team. I like the kid and hope he does well.

Y'all crapping on JP are hilarious. If someone offered you a 2 million dollar raise anywhere in the country you aint gonna take it? He's probably not gonna play in the NBA, he's smart to get some life changing money while he can.
No question. I wish no ill will on the young man. I believe we did the right thing not paying him as much as UM did and he did the right thing by taking it. He has a chance to prove us wrong and show he was worth it.

I only see posts of folks stating Michigan overpaid. The young man was inconsistent at TN. He was an avg player at best with an upside if he can stay healthy. He is an avg defender at best w/ limited offensive game.

But again, he didn’t get close to $3 mil. If that is what is being reported then it’s from his agent who is trying to inflate the number to attract new clients.

I hated to see JP go but…he’s actually really struggled at Tennessee to live up to the expectations. Clearly…he was NOT consistent around the basket. He did fight for rebounds but often had trouble on the offensive end with putbacks. The injury proneness is a huge issue too…Can’t remember the game but within a two minute stretch, he missed five shots at the rim (two were tip ins) and three free throws, two being front ends, in a game we lost. I remember the discussion I had with several Vol fans after that game and it just seemed that he killed us that night. Seems like a good lighthearted kid so I don’t wish him any ill will but I personally think we’ll be able to replace him quite easily.

Dude is a soft weirdo. Does a bunch of podcasts acting like an ambassador saying he’s a VFL, then goes to the team he got beat by 30+ lol. Good riddance he was either injured or missing wide open layups

Honestly this is good for us. They just sunk a ton of nil money into an injury prone under performer I’m not even mad about it lol
