Missing time and being gimpy can affect all that . Estrella showed signs of being very, very good. If he’s able to get a full season of preseason in and play with only bumps and brusies, I’d say he’s a 15 and 9 guy. If so, huge error. All players are a gamble. Injuries can happen to anyone. Look at a Rice at USC. Dude was lighting it up.He "misses close shots" yet he was Evan Miya's #1 offensive player (4 & 5) in the SEC this year...weird.
LMAO
Russel W said FOUR MILLION!I only see posts of folks stating Michigan overpaid. The young man was inconsistent at TN. He was an avg player at best with an upside if he can stay healthy. He is an avg defender at best w/ limited offensive game.
But again, he didn’t get close to $3 mil. If that is what is being reported then it’s from his agent who is trying to inflate the number to attract new clients.
yeah but those are just the big time contending teams who are giving multiple millions to multiple players. you could easily have another school spend the majority of their small budget on one player that could help them win their conference and get to the NCAA tournament.I'm not sure it's as different as you are attempting to imply. There are only 20-25 collegiate schools spending $200m on NIL (about 10 basketball teams spending $10M on roster construction last I looked). Essentially there are 20-30 collegiate teams working with similar "salary cap" figures in comparison to everyone else. UT Martin isn't going to be adding a high end transfer anytime soon...
The play on the court was inconsistent, but it was not pure trash. That was a huge shot at a critical time against Virginia that helped us advance. There’s no guarantee that he will ever make as much money playing bball as he will the next two years. That’s a nut that could set him up for life. I hate the nature of rosters these days, but I don’t blame him.Sorry but the play on the court was pure trash , air balling 5 foot shots and stumbling around missing rebounds. I am glad he is someone else's problem now.
Multiple things can be true.He "misses close shots" yet he was Evan Miya's #1 offensive player (4 & 5) in the SEC this year...weird.

Embarrassed? How could you possibly know?
The point of my question referred to the fact that you couldn't possibly know due to having not ever been in such a position to have an understanding of it.Not sure. Guess the mentality of “I’m gonna work my butt off and get my revenge the next time we meet” is gone. They beat us like a rented mule and then he defects there after being developed and supported here for three years? I know there’s no loyalty anymore, but yeah id be embarrassed.
He was def on minutes restriction to start the season but he seemed fine and then it was reported he wasn't playing physical enough which was why he was only playing ~13 mpg. Re: his strength...it seems reasonable to assume a big coming off a major foot injury was very limited in terms of actual strength training this past offseason. It was my impression that he was anywhere close to 100% for about 10 of those 33. It may be a matter of simply getting stronger, but I also believe we have an elite s&c program, and this was his third year in it.
Agree with al 3 points...it's exactly what I've been saying. Haven't checked the final list once the season ended but he was #1 at the end of the season.Multiple things can be true.
1. Estrella is a really good basketball player
2. Estrella is a better fit for Michigan's system given the way they use our bigs
3. We might get more value for our money getting a different big with a dedicated PnR roll + rim protector skillset.
I think Estrella is really good, but Barnes was in the top percentile in ballscreen action, and we need to spend money there and at the rim on defense. Estrella just doesn't fill that need for us for the money.
Also: Estrella was #5 among 4/5 offensive players in the SEC according to EM. #5 offense, #36 defense, #12 overall big.View attachment 825617

Yes, of course you do, but not just because you buy tickets, merchandise and support the program. Your opinion is no more important than those fans who don't contribute like youBut I buy merchandise, tickets to games and have supported the program for well over 30 years. Therefore, I get an opinion and I personally would be embarrassed to crawl back to the program that just thumped my ass in an elite 8 game. You don’t have to like it, but I get to say it.
