Doeren offered Tennessee job (according to football scoop)

When this is over Currie will be the Haslam pool boy. His career in AD is over.

Unless he has been constrained by the university. This has been a pattern over the last decade of being cheap and making lackluster hires. Currie is more likely just the yes man for Haslam. That doesn’t make him free of blame, but there are bigger problems when the same basic thing happens with three different athletic directors.

Hopefully with the back lash and NC State offering him the 5 year extension he wants he decides to stay. He knows we don't want him. Let's hope he is smart enough to stay.

Holy crap! Nike and U.T. will both be declaring bankruptcy soon.

we stopped Schiano from coming based on our reaction. The same will happen here.

Ehh kinda, but it was largely the political and big boosters who really kicked the reversal with Schiano past the breaking point. But they were definitely spurned on by the general fanbase.

Need to hope some boosters are working behind the scenes to stop this if you don't want Doeren but at this point and without a political hot potato (Schiano/Penn State thing), UT making an offer means it's likely too late for much to change on UT's side so I guess hope he chooses to stay at NCSU if you don't want him. That'd be absolutely great optics though... getting turned down by an average coach.

Imagine what the introductory presser will be like. " At the outset when I said we would be looking for a coach with integrity to lead the student athletes of the football program at the University of Tennessee..it led to an exhaustive search. I'm proud to say that we have found the right coach at the right time to lead the student athletes of our football program and that man is Dave Doeren. We are proud to welcome Dave and his lovely wife...along with 3 children to the University of Tennessee family. Please stand up (blahblahblah). What a lovely family and we are so proud to welcome you to OUR family here at the University of Tennessee."

Haslam has been Oz behind the curtain for all of it.

We need to send ole Haslam a message. If you burn Neyland Pilot will burn with it. Tennessee fans will make it our lives mission to see your business and political endeavors fail and turn to ashes.

Game on Haslams, now we go after what you hold dear!
Let's see now. Pilot has almost 600 locations, travel centers, etc, and 38% of it is owned by Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway. By 2023, that stake will increase to 80% ownership by one of the wealthiest men in the world.

He will probably send you an email, begging you to not stop buying your $10 worth of gas, a pack of beef jerky, 3 scratch offs, and a Red Bull.

Isn’t that same sight that said we would get Gruden? From what Donte Stallworth on Twitter was saying that Lane Kiffin, Tee Martin, and Steele from Auburn was offering a package deal and Tennessee turned that down. I guess championships and VFLs are not important anymore. If so F the University of Haslam!.

If true, then OUCH.

Wow. So this is what it feels like to be a fan of a non-elite-status college football program.

There was a time, not so very long ago, when only the very BEST of the best would have been proud to be given even a chance to interview for a coaching position at such a winning tradition-rich program that boasted a phenomenal fan base and facilities to match.

Now we're apparently forced to settle for someone with a pulse and who could successfully identify a football in a picturebook if asked to point one out.

Yay.

I'm assuming being an ass makes you feel better?
