That is both under-the-radar and an impressive resume, but nothing close to SEC experience.
Go Vols!Honest opinion this was a good call on Butch's part. The play calling for the "D" was horrendous! Do we really need to relive the OU and FL games? For those asking for "Chief" to come back......well it wouldn't be a bad choice but definitely not my first. Those who say he stunk it up at A&M fail to realize he took a "D" that was ranked 102nd to 51st, not bad in a his first year there. I would give anything if we made a run at Bud Foster, he is ripe for the picking with Beamer gone and VA TECH not too far of a drive. Think of the story line for Bristol this year.
That wasn't the point of the comparison.

Shut your pirate hooker mouth!!!!Janzek is being let go mainly for running "3rd & Chavis" against a bad Florida offense. Why would we want more of the same? He was no better of a DC than Janzek was, while here. Chavis just lucked out that he landed in a hotbed of Louisiana talent, and had a loaded roster to work with every year.
He got exposed (as an average DC) at TAM, this year.
John Chavis?
We probably couldn't afford him now, though.
To be honest, I'd rather go after Wilcox any day of the week, than Chavis. Why? Mainly because he wasn't adverse to recruiting like Chavis is. Chavis seems to think it's beneath him to hit the road and recruit hard. He expects the talent to fall into his lap."Another source said Chavis had pursued the defensive coordinator job at South Carolina, his native state, and that his wife had never moved to Baton Rouge from the couple's home in Knoxville, Tenn. But ultimately Texas A&M "threw too much money" at him with a three-year deal at $1.67 million annually and an option on a fourth season, so he chose the Aggies."
Why did John Chavis bolt LSU for Texas A&M? Tigers' lack of offense, sources say | NOLA.com
Chavis's want to be in knoxville, but does butch want him back?
