Awesome, Rolen to the DL. That means Gomes at the cleanup spot for the next few weeks. Well, good thing we went to the playoffs last year, because we will be out of the race by June this year

Only team IMO that can pull away is the Cards and they are not good enough to do it. It'll be a race all year.

We will be fine. No one expected Rolen to be healthy all season. Cueto and Bailey are coming back soon. Volquez is looking like he is getting back into form. Bruce will start hitting and Stubbs is turning into a legit 25 HR threat that can steal 40 bases while playing gold glove defense.

second that. i have to back phillips' feelings when he said they were cry babies, whenever i see that guy. just something about yadier rubs me wrong. he is a great catcher, but something about him just makes me not respect him and makes me feel like he is one of the main cry babies that phillips' spoke of. granted the so called "brawl," started with yadier and phillips', but that instance aside i still just can't put my finger on it. i just do not like him. not because he is a cardinal, i just care much for him.

i have the same feelings for brian mccann. i just feel like he is a big baby and i don't like him. last year he could not hit the broad side of a barn with his bat at the plate and he had to have some special glasses. i don't see those special glasses this year. must have had some corrective surgery? i don't know if he did or not, because i try and hear as little as possible about the braves at all times. but i just always felt like it was an excuse for him sucking it up at the plate, ala baby like.

I really liked the move of Bruce to the 2 hole. He is absolutely going to get better pitches to hit ahead of Votto and we have got to get him going. Phillips looked good in the 4 hole last night so I think we stick with this lineup for the time being. I am not too concerned with back to back lefties as Votto is hitting them at about a .600 clip so far.

Good move by Dusty.

However, Gomes with the Golden Sombrero last night. Sweet. Cue Chris Heisey. Please.

Everyone fine with leaving Bruce in the 2 hole? He is mashing since the move. Votto being behind him is without a doubt what he needed to get jump started.

Completely down. We are going to have to pick up another bat at some point though. Maybe a starter, too.

Johnny Gomes needs to be removed from the lineup. If I were Chris Heisey I would refuse to pitch hit if Gomes continues to start over me with that robust .190 average. His walks are also becoming fewer and far between because pitchers know they can just get him out.

Sappelt also has been killing it in AAA. He has a slash line of .341/.417/.588/1.005. Gomes needs to start hitting or he needs to be cut.

If Sappelt can hit from the LF position, get him up here. In fact, if anyone can hit from that position they should be playing it. At this point, there is absolutely no reason Gomes should be starting over Heisey. Dusty is effectively running 4-5 outs in the order after Phillips every game.

According to a guy one Redszone, Fred Lewis just completed his last rehab game and will be up tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully he takes the LF job.
