Cutting the cord...

Cordcutter for almost 2 years.

Should have done it sooner.
Have 2 Roku Units and a Roku TV with Sling Blue (no ESPN)
I "borrow" ESPN from the account of family member and watch through their App separately. Same with a few other stations not on Sling Blue package.

I have Amazon Prime and Netflix
I actually subscribe to the CBS app as well and is thus the only local channel I receive. The CBS app is actually quite excellent as well for all their old shows are online as well.

My ISP is Charter and has been consistently good usually exceeding 60. Had a problem a few weeks ago and traced it back to a bad coax splitter that I fixed myself.

Had tried VUE and did not not like
We try a rather communal experience with other friends on sharing logins and such on occasion.

Not to sound like a damn hipster, but I'm actually better off with what I have now. I watch ESPN very rarely if not college football season.

My wife and myself have binge watched quite a bit of stuff (just got done with all the seasons so far of "Silicon Valley)

My kids (14 and 9) RARELY - if ever watch live tv

Due to terrain, I really have no reception of OTA stations despite living fairly close to Knoxville.

So my payouts are for

Sling: $ 25.00
Netflix: + 10.00
Prime: + 10.00
CBS: + 6.00
ISP: + 64.99
Total: $115.99

As some of my favorite shows have gone off, I'll likely drop CBS. Especially if I could get an antennae to better get locals.
I would drop Amazon Prime for streaming but it's mainly for shopping now anyway. I should remove from my list.

I guess I've been lucky out here on the West Coast. The usual way I watch UT games is at a bar near Pacific Heights in San Francisco with a group of fellow alums. I also have PlayStation Vue and on the rare occasions that ESPN is not airing a UT game in my area, I can watch it on the Watch ESPN app via PS4.

Okay, this thread is as good a place as any....

So I keep seeing commercials that feature footage of Vols games. Just now it was a Dish Network commercial (for all I know they're all Dish, I don't remember that kind of thing) but once again it's Vols football that they show people watching.

It's not a regional thing because I live in California. And I doubt they're profiling on the fact that my DVR typically records Vols games, although that'd be really impressive if they could deliver TV ads that targeted. So... those of you who live in other parts of the country, do you see Vols games on commercials?

Maybe it's just because that orange really pops on TV.

Yup, I see it all the time. “Tennessee is in a close game!” Me :” whats new?” Lol

I use Hulu Live. I have am able to watch all the ESPN channels live. The good thing is it's just one package and you don't have to pick one thing and miss out on something else. I highly recommend Hulu Live.

The owner of the "Dish" brand is a MAJOR booster of the Vols. Hence why you see Tennessee on the Dish adds promoting their services. Same thing with Sling TV. It's a subsidiary of Dish TV, that is why you see a picture of Tennessee football on there site as well.

A small thing to keep in mind while streaming games is that the feed seems to be 15-20 seconds behind the live feed. Not a huge deal unless you're reading the official game thread on here, then you know what's coming before it happens, which isn't always bad with this season. I guess it gives you time to prepare......😕

I get texts during every game from friends after a big play, whether good or bad. I have to turn it on silent because I hear a ding and know something good or bad is about to happen in 10 seconds

Considering cutting the cable cord. Any advice on services and/or devices? I was considering Sling TV as SEC network is available. Any experiences?

Keep in mind, I HAVE to be able to see Tennessee away games (I'm usually at all the home games).

I use PlayStation Vue, its outstanding all the locals and over 100 channels for 75, even got the red zone, HBO,Showtime etc, all SEC channels sports programming and all, cloud based DVR with unlimited space and cheaper PPV costs for boxing and MMA, just my two cents

Can stream up to five devices at once, using PS3, PS4, ChromeCast, Roku etc....

I use PSVue as well (have to use antenna for locals), but all of the main streaming services have a trial period that you can try and determine which one you prefer. Between PSVue, DTNow, and Sling, you should find one that meets your needs.

Direct now, has CBS now. No longer need CBS All Access

DTV - $35
Internet - $59.99
Netflix - $9.99
Amazon Video - free with my Prime subscription

Total - $104.98

Thinking about dropping Netflix again because I never watch it

Speaking of CBS All Access, I tried it out because I didn't get locals though VUE. Well if you cant get locals through VUE, then you also cant get local live tv through CBS All Access.

Really. I had DTVNow and got locals through CBS AA, which I didn’t get through DTVN

In my area anyway. Don't have locals at all through Vue, but could get a local broadcast through Fox Sports, but could not get any local broadcast through CBS All Access. Again though, CBS All Access has a trial period so I wasn't out anything. Biggest plus to streaming is I am not locked into any contract.
