Cutting the cord...

I've had Sling for about 2 years now. When we bought our new house, as a cost cutting measure, I ditched DirecTV. At first I was a little disappointed. Definitely had buffering issues on ESPN. Last season, you could tell they'd focused on that being a problem and had almost no issues. So, last season my biggest complaint was that we still live close enough to Neyland to still hear the fireworks when we score...then I'd see us score 2-3 minutes later on the stream.

All that said, I've really contemplated trying PSVue, Hulu now has a live service, YouTube is supposed to be working on one as well. The main reason I haven't is that I've really liked the customer service I've gotten from Sling. When I've had an issue, I'll tweet them, and receive a response within a few hours. They've also added channels, but not upped the cost. To me that goes a really long way. We started with the Orange package (1 device at a time), which was all they had when we first signed up. Then it was 20 channels for $20. Now it's something like 27 channels, but still $20. We also added HBO for $15 and the sports package for $5. We've since combined the Orange and Blue (up to 3 devices at a time) packages for $40 and dropped the sports package until football season starts.

I still think about trying PSVue, mostly for the "DVR" feature. I want to do some more research on Hulu's live TV package. But I've seen the work that Sling has been doing to improve their product, and they've not passed that cost onto me. For that, they continue to earn my loyalty.

I also have Kodi on a FireStick, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and a login to a PLEX account that someone has loaded down with tons and tons of shows and movies. ZERO regrets with cutting the cord.

I never watch ESPN on sling TV itself, I always go directly to ESPN and login using my sling account. I've gotten much better picture quality that way than using sling's ESPN feed.

I'm confused about all the complimentary posts on only paying $140, $170 Etc.
If you don't have good internet, I get it. Stick with satellite or cable. If you do have good internet....

I pay $70 for internet, 40 for the elite package on Vue. That totals $110 and covers a heck of a lot more channels than anything close with cable or satellite. Including any and everything on watch ESPN.
I don't understand how stating you only pay $140/170 is a good thing?

Monthly Cost for me
9 for Prime
11 for Netflix
28 for SlingTV
48 for Internet
$96 Total includes taxes

My antenna cost $55 - I get about 25 channels including (2) CBS, (2) ABC, (2) FOX, and NBC - I get multiple NFL games - live near Memphis so I get East games & West games
AC wireless router - $83

I watch most of my college sports through ESPN app - only downside is no Fox Sports 1 but that is ok with me

+1 for PS Vue and a digital antenna. (You need the antenna for cbs).

Last season i had sling and the cbs app. Didn't pay a dime for cbs games, as they were all streamed live for free.

Monthly cost_

Internet - 90

Hulu-1199

Sling-28

So about 130 per month.Internet includes house phone. And is at 50 mbps.

To the people who have Playstation Vue, have any of you tried Hulu with Live TV? I hated Vue when I tried it and have had no issues with HwLT

That internet sounds like Time Warner / Spectrum Business Class. I used that for several years, even after my former employer ceased reimbursement of internet fees. I thought it was worth it for the "customer service". Finally broke free and bought straight up consumer class Spectrum 200/20 for 54.99 and it has been great. Much faster speed, obviously, and close to half the cost.

I just want a good VPN. There's so many I'm not sure what to do. It'll save me 50 bucks a month at least

I just got this notice. Time to look for an alternative to PSVue.

Effective today, PlayStation Vue is transitioning Access Slim plans to a nationwide price of $39.99/mo* for new customers.

As a valued existing customer, you will keep Access Slim at the price of $29.99/mo* for 3 billing cycles until October 19, 2017. During this period, any changes to your plans will reflect the currently available pricing.

(I have been payng 29.99/mth. And, I'm still bot sure if I'll get the SEC Network. Considering Hulu Live, since I already have Hulu "without ads")

I just used my PSVue credentials to sign into WatchESPN, with the intention of checking if SECNetwork worked for me. I was denied access because I do not have authorization. Potential game-changer.

If you don't have the package that has SEC Network with Vue , you won't be able to see those channels in WatchESPN. Same with FOX Sports Go, if you don't have the package with Vue that has regional sports, then you won't be able to watch them in that App either.

That's crazy that you don't get grandfathered in

Why are you not sure if you will get the SEC Network while only subscribing to that level of service with VUE? Its very clear with their packages that you have to have at least CORE level subscription to get SECN.....that's the reason that you cant get access to SECN through WatchESPN with your Vue credentials...............because you don't have that subscription.

I thought Hulu's new app was garbage.

I watch live TV for about 10-20 minutes a day when I go to bed. Otherwise, it's watching stuff on the DVR.

With the price increase, I may cancel after the 3 months and see how that works. If Kodi still works and I can get the 3 or 4 channels we actually watch, maybe I'll start saving some money. I can get an ESPN login from a friend and CBS puts their SEC games on their app for free.

I have CORE Slim with SECN and it's also increasing by $10 in three months.

You talking about Core that has been and currently at like 45 bucks? From what I read the only changes are they are getting rid of that low level 29.99 subscription level.....havent seen that they are increasing all packages by 10 dollars.

ALL packages are going up $10, but some folks with locals were already paying the extra $10. Now, locals or not, you're paying that $10. You get 3 months at current pricing if you are a customer already.

Because I'm an old fart. That's why.

Seriously, I learned I would need to upgrade to the next tier to get SEC. So, that is an option.

Or, maybe go back to Sling Orange and Blue. For such a "take your t.v. back", I sure feel manipulated.

Cutting these cords and getting used to it is always an option, too.
