Could Bray be better than Manning?

If he got a national championship and/or beat Florida and Bama at least twice, it could be reasonably argued by the sane.

no if he only got a NC hes better peyton never won a NC TEE MARTIN DID so tectonically Tee Martin is the best QB just facts....But Manning has the best pro career.

Enough of this beating Florida stuff!!!
Question: From
September 1994 - December 1997, what college football team beat the Florida Gators???
Bama & Nebraska & Florida State. However; they didn't beat them with any regularity.
My point is that NO ONE was beating them during that period. They were a hot program. Fulmer wasn't beating them. Paterno wasn't beating them. Bowden wasn't consistantely beating them. Holtz wasn't beating them.
After 1997, Florida started to show some cracks in their foundation. Teams were figuring them out, somewhat.
LSU, Casey Clausen, and other teams were able to expose them and get victories. After 1997, they were lucky to win most of the games that they won. They had lucky plays against U.T. to get a victory. They had
lucky plays against USC to get a victory.
Then when Spurrier left and Zook took over, they were vunerable.
No Manning didn't beat Florida from 1994 - 1997 but no one else did either, except Nebraska, Florida State or Bama. And they didn't do it consistantely.

Excellent points, Rudy. I would add only the fact that Danny Wuerffel was as perfect a fit for Spurrier’s system as Tebow was for Urban Meyer’s offense. Spurrier’s period of dominance largely coincided with Wuerffel’s tenure as quarterback.

Thays what im saying Bray might have the Best WR to ever come threw not just UT but the ncaa thats just my opinion!!

When PM played FL, several of those years we had better teams. Like I posted PM was 6 L - 2 W, not very good with the talent we had. PM was a good QB, I've always thought he put too much pressure on himself, over thinking the D in those big games. How good would PM have been with a below average to average ground game. when PM played teams knew they had to stop the Run. what I can't get is why wouldn't anybody want our QB to be better than PM, if he just comes close he will be a great one. Time will tell.

It's possible Tyler is better than Peyton. This early into his college career, I'd say he is very comparable, if not better than Peyton. How he matures, and how he fares in the rest of his career will dictate if he truly is better. I mean, Peyton was great in college and even better in NFL. Tyler has many years to go til it's ultimately decided if he was better or not. Jim Chaney mentoring him helps a whole lot.

It'll be hard for our fanbase to say he's better than our prodigal son. But, he has the makeup to be Manning 2.0

I am excited for the kid. He has everything he needs to be successful and definitely has a bright future ahead. Let's just hope he keeps his head on straight! With great power comes great responsibility. That is what makes peyton so great. Overall, he is a great quarterback, but he is also a great human being....and he's been consistent in those facets of his life for well over 15 years now.

I don't remember PM beating many top 10 teams or any really big games.

Seriously?

Do you remember what he did to Alabama in 95?

Did you watch the 96 Citrus Bowl against Ohio St's "all-world team"?

I seem to remember the only one's he did NOT beat were Florida and Nebraska...(unless Bama was Top 10 Peyton's freshman year...Can't remember, but he split time in that game anyway).

Man, this is the foolish to think Bray is better than Manning. Come on, dude! It was only 2 games this season...even tho' if Bray playing whole season doesn't mean he better than Manning. Plus, I don't think Bray facing as many talents defense players like Peyton Manning did against the opposite tho', but I would take advantage of it.

Bray will have two better receivers than Manning ever had.

I like all the Orange Moonshine that has been passed around since beating Cincy, but Tyler Bray has yet to play outside the state of Tennessee.

C'mon peeps!

this. Gators from 1993-1997 absolutely dominated the SEC. Saban's Alabama is nowhere near the dominance that Spurrier had on this league. In 1995 Peyton dominated the Gators in the first half scoring I believe on his first four possessions. Then the Lawrence Wright (I think) hit on one of WR that resulted in a fumble really took the sails out of our offense and Florida massacred us. In 96 it was the first half where the Gators destroyed us. Peyton tried to lead us back but we couldn't recover an onside kick (I think) at the end. 97 our offensive line didn't let Peyton do anything and Jamal Lewis had yet to emmerge.

People forget that in 98 we were extremely fortunate to win as Florida outgained us like 500 yds to 200 in that game. Their offense moved the ball pretty well just the fumble at the one and costly turnovers and sacks at key moments of the game cost them the game (the opposite can be said of 1999 and 2000 where we were the better team and we lost). If Peyton had a defense like the 98 team that bent but didn't break then he would have been 3-0 against the Gators.

Tyler Bray has yet to start a game outside of the state of tennessee and we are comparing him to probably the best pure passer in SEC football in history.

Everyone read the above statement carefully, because it is pointed and sensical. Drink the orange kool-aid, it tastes good, but don't be so ridiculous to start comparing this guy to one of the greatest of all-time. PLEASE revisit the question mid-season 2012.

As for now i would love for him to be as good, or close to the level of Casey Clausen during his sophomore year. Heck, if he turn out as good as Ainge we will be in good shape (won 10 games twice, 9 once, and east division twice).

Alabama was a national power when Peyton beat them and I think at least two of the wins they were undefeated when we played them. Ohio State was arguably the best team in the country in 1995 when we beat them. He lost to three teams from 1995-1997 and that was Florida(two NCAA championship appearances), Memphis (inexplicable) and Nebraska (Nebraska won the national championship).

Bray could definitely break the yardage and TD records with the extra game played each season now and the Chaney offense.

Could Bray be better than Peyton? Hmmm....

Your always gonna have those that when asked,"Who's the best QB at UT?" Hurry to look up the record books and strictly go by that, which Peyton owns but Bray is putting his stamp on a couple.

Then the other half it's all about could he win the big one's? And no doubt this weekend is a Big One, this is Bray's first career start against the gators, a game we will talk about no matter what the outcome is when Brays career is over and we reflect. For me, if he can break records that's awesome but to be to better than Peyton he has to win these type games.

So, ask yourself is it about being the best statistically at your postion or is it about them championships? We know what Peyton did and we know what he didn't do.

Tyler, go beat the gators.

Beating florida in 2011 is not the same at 1994-1997. I don't think Brantley beating Tennessee last year makes him an all-time great at Florida. This game is not even close to what it was then. We were both top five teams. I would settle for both teams being ranked. I hope we can assemble some talent on defense before Bray leaves so he has a legit shot at an SEC title. I think 2012 will be the best shot because we may be losing two dominant receivers following that season.
