I remember Sybil and Betty Bean too!!! Fun times. The SummiTT was the place to be during the last 2 seasons of CP3's LV career. It kind of followed the trajectory of the program from then on.Same here too, but I paid for a while until it got too toxic for me. I loved JJF! I go way back on that board to when I was in high school and the days of Sybil and Betty Bean and many others. I made a lot of friends there and met many fellow posters in person for games in Knoxville.
Hey, you forgot to list how many turnovers she averaged per game, or non-boxouts, or blow by layups?Just think what her stats would have been if she got to play an entire game!
It really was the place to be then, and I have so many fond memories of it. I remember you and some of the others on this board who were also there. For the life of me, I cannot remember my screen name there, but I posted a lot then. I know it had something to do with my Jackson, MIssissippi days.I remember Sybil and Betty Bean too!!! Fun times. The SummiTT and the old ESPN board were both awesome in the olden days. I especially liked the ESPN board because you could go at it with fans from other schools in a non-psychotic way, unlike X and other social media platforms today. It was all so much more good natured back then.It really was the place to be then, and I have so many fond memories of it. I remember you and some of the others on this board who were also there. The issue is that Tennessee is losing their entire team, regardless of whether it's due to graduation or defection. So she'll be needing to bring in anywhere from 9-12 players just to field a roster 5 months before the season begins. Losing the core freshmen (MiPauldo, Prawl and Civil if she leaves) will sting because the best thing about freshmen is they become sophomores and will generally see big improvements after a year of college ball. Latham was a steady and dependable role player. Cooper, although flawed, still stuffed the stat sheet. They are literally left with nothing right now, and I guarantee that either their incoming recruits are second guessing or insane, because who would want to walk into a buiding that everyone else is running out of? But I'm sure you're right and every coach in America would shrug off losing their entire team before the season is even officially overI obviously wasnt counting the graduating players. Clearly was meaning the ones transferring out. But cool.
Tell me 1 player thats transferring out that isnt replaceable? I'll say losing Hurst (potential wise) hurt but other than that. They isnt a huge loss. Could say Cooper but like I said & plenty of others. She's lazy. Took horrible shots. Turnover prone. Id rather have someone that takes care of the ball and hustles over someone that doesnt hustle & is just out to get their points any daybut im sure you LV & message board fanatics know more than D1 coaching staffs.
ESPN was for sure a good time, and you were right about the non psychotic way. I argued with one UConn fan enough that we ended up exchanging Christmas cards for years after it was closed. The SummiTT and the old ESPN board were both awesome in the olden days. dont read to much into what i was trying to say. Im talking about body language from them most of the time. they just looked uninterested so often.
There were a couple of good UConn guys there that enjoyed the game and appreciated other teams. CTHsky (?) was a great guy. Slewbopper (RIP) was a Tennessee fan, but he appreciated good play no matter who was playing. Unfortunately, there were some psychos there too. There was one poster who mocked Slew after he died from cancer and CTHsky informed the group. Then there were the creative trolls such as jakia, the perpetually pregnant, illiterate high school student.ESPN was for sure a good time, and you were right about the non psychotic way. I got into it frequently with Sybil on the old board, but she was still nice enough to copy some game tapes (VHS format!) and leave them on her porch for me. Even gave me directions to her house. What a different world we live in now.I remember Sybil and Betty Bean too!!! Fun times. The SummiTT was the place to be during the last 2 seasons of CP3's LV career. I remember CTHsky well. I thought he was the one who died of cancer. There were a couple of good UConn guys there that enjoyed the game and appreciated other teams. CTHsky (?) was a great guy. Yep, I remember the good ones and the psychos. Really enjoyed Slew! There was one that lots of posters nicknamed Lady Chablis who was an interesting character. There were a couple of good UConn guys there that enjoyed the game and appreciated other teams. It's been so long. I'm sure he's passed away by now because he was up there in age when the board was still active. But Slew definitely died of cancer. I remember him telling the group that he was diagnosed with stage 4 and having an emotional breakdown on the board, and this weirdo poster laughed at him and said he deserved it because he called bull**** on that poster's lies.I remember CTHsky well. Lady Chablis = Brenda, who was the one that mocked Slew getting cancer. That was his pet name for "him". He didn't fool anyone with that really poor quality doctored profile pic where he was trying to catfish us into thinking he was a woman. On their worst nights, they are still better than half the league. I'm not a fan of the modernized "Curry ball," but let's not pretend Bama hasn't done very well with the same gameplan on the men's side recently. The style is the best way for underdogs to play (we are underdogs now). It allows you to land 5 star athletes you wouldn't otherwise land trying to play defense like Barnes does. These kids don't want to play defense anymore, but that group last year under Caldwell quit so many times I would have canned the entire team long ago. Wanna fire Caldwell? Fine. Just stop pretending the players we paid to play last year were actually playing hard. Because they certainly were not. And, that's 100% on them and them alone.
