Cooper

Painful truth, DW knows his future does not rest on the success or failure of the Lady Vols. And it sucks that he feels that way, because those of us who grew up watching Pat and who know the history, it's painful to watch the crash and burn this program has become. Should CKC have been let go? Probably. It's a better option than losing your entire roster. Not sure how she sells good players in the portal on coming here when she lost her entire roster. Almost feels like a death sentence.
Spot on here. He knows that it’s not a high priority in the long run. Those of us who love the program aren’t a high priority. In a world of only dollar signs, the program’s legacy isn‘t driving the bus.

While it is true that his future doesn't rest on the Lady Vols success or failure, letting Pat's program get nuked into oblivion is the kind of thing that can - and will - get used against him if one of the big money maker sports starts to fail. And while the AD may not care about the Lady Vols, there are plenty around the university who do (some of them are even in the men's programs and are donors/boosters)
If football is succeeding, DW is safe. Football makes lots of money. Men's basketball makes some money. Everything else operates at a deficit. People can be upset and offended all they want, but unless football struggles, DW is safe. I don't like it, personally, but I recognize it for what it is.

Like you said it sucks that he doesn’t see it as a priority, but he doesn’t. Of course, he also shouldn’t expect Lady Vols fans who feel it should be a priority to be in his corner either.

Remember just a short time ago, when Calipari left Kentucky and went to Arkansas? He had zero players when he got there. just saying, clean house, start fresh

Is Kim going to a new program like Calipari? If I remember correctly, he did keep a few players that were at Arkansas his first year and brought a few from Kentucky along with him. Kim does not have that. He also had all the players in the NBA and a National Championship in D1 to back him up. He also does not run a platooning system like Kim. I get what you are trying to say, but it’s kind of an apples to oranges comparison between these two.

Michigan men did it this year, all but 3 players and one was coach son. If the players and the 2 coaches gave up at mid season and not giving 100. Then you clean house. The worst culprits IMO where seniors but they were supposed to be leaders but led down the wrong path and Cooper plays on instincts. She is just not a leader never be a coach some day but she is good player if especially you have upper classmen with integrity like last year.

Michigan has tens of millions of dollars and Dusty May. We have neither the money nor the same caliber of coach. The results will likely be wildly different.

This is a great statement. It will take a bunch of $$ , but it can be done. TCU just went to tge E8 with a whole new team. Will we invest enough to do that? We shall see.

I think I read where Michigan’s roster was close to $20 million on the men’s side. If we had that type of money in our men’s or women’s program then we could just pick whoever we wanted. Dusty May had also taken FAU of all schools to the Final Four. Also, Kim just literally did a terrible job of meshing new players on a roster of her choosing. She brought in 9 new players and failed miserably. We’re going to have more new players than that nect year. Going by her track record this past year of having a practically brand new team playing together, what would make anyone think that she wouldn’t do just as bad of a job next year meshing them together.

All these teams being mentioned as examples of building from scratch were not carrying the baggage of a complete collapse of culture and a coach carried over from that.. Also werent asking incoming players to play in a unique system which we’ve established not every player is cut out for. Those two things make the current task way way harder.

If we got the right coach, we could be UConn again. When was the last time we beat UConn, so long ago cant remember and who was the HC.

Yeah who was that that passed the ball to open players and Made the shots ? But she never handled the situation when things started going off the rails. Has she learned from those mistakes and will she have time to right the ship ? Only time will tell and it's going to be hard to overcome but for sure going take time and money.

Where was all this Cooper love and admiration while she was actually playing at TN? Just saying. lol
I’ll be the first to say she frustrated me, but as someone who has been on a toxic team before, I know how that environment can bring out the worst in people. I think it’s okay for people to wish her the best while admitting that she did not thrive this year. Both can be true.

Accentuate the negative and eliminate the positive, Go Vols
