Well I guess the positive spin, Kim can sure sell playing time to the portal players. 😁. Hope Civil and Edwards hold to their commitment but not surprised if they jump ship.
No, she is selling a reduction in expectations for playing time from even the best players, not more playing time. I understand the theory of her system. I do not think it applies to elite basketball players. It is hard for me to imagine Bridget Gordon, Candace Parker or Tamika Catchings (or any other great women’s basketball player) being comfortable in a system where they play in two minute intervals.

Honestly, it reminds me of the very old days when women were forced “for their own good” to play half court and six versus six so that they didn’t exhaust themselves. I would love to hear from any top basketball player arguing in favor of mass hockey substitutions. It is not part of the game for a reason. I’m sure it might help lesser athletes.

With all due respect to Lvocd, LV basketball is clearly not dominating the national conversation. Crooks transfer is the one getting mentioned on ESPN, not Coops. The good news is that LV b-ball is no longer sliding toward irrelevance; it is now officially irrelevant. Our big splash hire is an assistant coach from a program who had a worse season than we had. So, we remain an upward move for those at bottom feeder programs (for now at least). I have no doubt the Big O is working on an exit strategy to a school where her talents will be recognized on the national stage.

But, the LV diehard fan base is the only group squawking in protest. The broader fan base for WCBB is talking about the final 4 and player of the year Sarah Strong.

One narrative that is getting a lot of traction in the UT social media world is a very misogynist one of "Kill the LVs and give the money to Barnes (and baseball)." That re-allocation may be the actual direction that DW is heading (i.e., not actually killing the program but just letting it be a perfunctory check mark on the Title IX box with minimal funding). So, in that sense, Kim may be the perfect coach for implementing this agenda. This year shattered all fan expectations so there will be more acceptance each yeat of the LVs being at the bottom of the SEC. I would not be surprised if MIzzou finishes ahead of next season.
Read my post again, madtown. I did not say it was ”dominating the national conversation.“ I said it “was managing to suck quite a bit of attention,” and made no mention of the “national conversation” at all.

It IS sucking attention, and all the attention is negative. Do you disagree?

Sorry my paraphrase was inadequate. My point is that the attention is concentrated among an increasingly small segment of diehard LV fans (which social media amplifies) and the usual squadron of anti-women's sports posters who are yelping about how all this $ could have been better spent on men's sports.

The fact that the meltdown of the LVs basketball program is not a talking on the ESPN screamfest shows (and they are heavily invested in WCBB) is a clear sign that the LVs are no longer on the national radar screen. Heck, they did not even highlight the Big O in their coverage of the McD's all-american game. They focused on the recruits going to UConn, TX, Duke, and LSU.

My bad. I should not have rephrased your comment. My mind just went to the desk at the WFF and i was overcome momentarily.

I did go check the headlines at espn. We are indeed irrelevant.

I also get the feeling we may wind up on the “avoid conversation regarding these topics” list for the broadcast crew.

She won’t be the best player on any contender, maybe the 3rd or 4th option. Or the 1st option on a bad team, I’ve seen enough I don’t care to watch her anymore.
She was a an All_Sec preconference pick based on her first season as a LV. She is an undeniable talent that any sane coach would love to have. I agree that she is not going to lead a top team in scoring (as she did for the LVs) but she will be a key player where ever she goes. She may follow Gabe to LSU and then roast the LVs next year.

Let her go to LSU, I won’t care. Kim mullet yells at players and this player has said she doesn’t like when a coach yells at her, she’s mentally weak. She also likes to yell at coaches and brush them off, let her go to LSU, and watch how long Mulksy will deal with that behavior.

Maybe Coop should change her name to Angel Reese.....

Well, she WAS the best option on a bad, non-contending team this year. But if you don't care to watch her anymore you had better hope she doesn't go to another SEC team, because I believe she'd put up a lot of points and steals against the Lady Vols.

She won’t put up anything, as long as when have defenders. She can’t dribble, has trouble against ball pressure, I’m not worried at all.also we will attack has on defense, she can’t keep anyone in front of her, just watch her reaching for steals because she can’t defend.

You stayed longer than me. The moment it required a subscription I found another avenue. Before that, it was the ESPN boards where I used to fight with UConn fans on the daily.
Same here. I was frustrated when they put it behind a pay well. They had some neat posters back in the day, like Jumping Jack Flash, who sadly died of cancer and that board was a good place for collective mourning. I actually got to know Maria, pretty well, through interchanges and PMs related to the SummiTT, She is a really good person but, as a journalist, constrained by the tenuous nature of her position. She needs to recite the party line to maintain access.

Kim is staying for the money she's making. No other P4 program will hire her and she must know that. Best case: She can buy some players that will win against the non-conference non-P4 teams. But she won't have any shot of a finish near the top of the SEC. Worst case: Nah, you don't even want to think about it.

And she has to show progress next year if she wants any hope of landing another good job even with a mid-major. Otherwise, she will have to step back to D2 or call it a career.

Same here too, but I paid for a while until it got too toxic for me. I loved JJF! I go way back on that board to when I was in high school and the days of Sybil and Betty Bean and many others. I made a lot of friends there and met many fellow posters in person for games in Knoxville.
