Isn't it ironic that the word assumption has the word A$$ in it? :loco:

Congratulations to JRM and company. She is beautiful!

Yeah back to the day when women knew their place and schools were segregated, white made right, nazis were killing Jews, atomic bombs were dropped and kids 'fell' down stairs. Such a great time.

Haven't you ever watched andy griffith see how good it was just in the 50 s an 60s just imagine how good it would've have been 20 years before when alot more people were honest and sincere then they are today. But seriously there has always been bad times and evil people ever since the fall of man in the garden it just seems to get worse an worse. anyways I'm happy for Jalen, being a father is one greatest privileges there is imo.

This x 1000

Why? B/c this happened less then than now and the standards/expectations of civil society were much higher.

While I hope mother and baby are doing fine, the statistics for unwed mothers and the welfare of the children ON AVERAGE (not saying JRM fits that category) are horrendous.

Read the first paragraph of this link....

Births to Unmarried Women | Child Trends

I'm a single parent with full custody of a nine year old girl. She was born a month after my 21st birthday. I finished my undergrad at MTSU, worked full-time, and did it all w/o the help of a second parent. Now I own a house in East Nashville, make 6 figures and my child is an honor student at one of the best schools in the state. Also, I'm a white male.

Don't need some bygone era or another parent to be successful and happy. Just work hard, stay humble, and be kind.

Congrats and well done. Statistics say you are an outlier though.

I'm taking it as he meant that Vols were pretty darn good around that time period? It's bad though to assume he was thinking of all the negative things. Be careful judging people of past decades and time periods one day people will do the same for us and our time...we are after all the most materialistic and narrsasitic generation in the history of man.

So proud of JRM coming back to school to earn that degree. It would have been easy to go to the league with a kid to provide for.

Much respect, JRM!

As they should, one of the way we improve is from our mistakes. I'm pretty sure we can all agree mistreating someone because of their gender or race is very wrong. Which was very prominent during that time period.

His returning, knowing he had a soon to be born child, speaks volumes about this young man's maturity. Having that college degree as a fall back plan to professional football is invaluable when you have a family dependent on you. JRM is a class act, wish him the best life has to offer.

I didn't realize that it was any of my damn business whether he was married or not.

I've seen enough cases of married dads vanishing, becoming no more than sperm donors, to think that there's some automatic magic with a ring. (I do realize that being willing to make that commitment to another adult sure helps the commitment to any resulting children.) I've also seen plenty of unmarried and divorced dads that move heaven and earth to stay in their children's lives and to do what's most important for the child. I'm happily married to one, in fact.

At any rate, congrats to JRM, and I hope that he plays a continued and meaningful role in his daughter's life, regardless of his marital status.

I'm sure this "holier-than-thou" crowd never had sex before marriage or in college. The 1940's "where it was wrong to have a kid out of wedlock, but perfectly fine to make another race go out back to eat at a restaurant, move to the back of a bus, or were made to seem inferior if you weren't white" great times those were.

Congrats JRM for stepping up to the plate and being a father!

I don't see a holier than thou crowd at all. There are multiple posts referring to them but I don't see them. To repeat I did not know because the child's last name was his hyphenated last name. If it was construed as a judgement on him then you were the one thinking it.

I agree with ya man, but good luck shutting the door on the people who are running with it. I thought the same thing when I read the news and thought it for the same reason. Nothing holier than thou about it.
